I worked with Denise for several months when I adopted a chihuahua. She was so great to work with and showed me ways to work with the dog that created a strong bond between us and established good behaviors in the pup. It was also just fun and she’s a joy to work with. Strongly recommend!

I cannot recommend Denise enough—she absolutely rules! As a first-time dog owner, I needed a lot of help with my anxious chihuahua puppy, and Denise was exactly what we needed. She is not only incredibly experienced and knowledgeable but also comes up with creative approaches tailored specifically to us. Even though we’ve tackled many of his issues, I’ll keep coming back for more sessions because training with Denise is such a nice way to bond with my dog. Since we started working with her, he has gained so much confidence. He used to completely lose his mind at the sight of his own reflection—now, we’re working on fun stuff, like dunking a tiny basketball!!!

Denise and Empire of the Dog have been excellent to work with. Our pup, Turtle, has come a long way with the techniques and training Denise has given us. I first sought out help from Denise Herman when I rescued a stray dog in Brooklyn who had a lot of fear and anxiety. Other trainers had failed (or even made things worse) but Denise was calm, persistent, and her training really made a huge difference. We went from not being able to have people come over to our house to hosting regular holiday parties with no issues. It was unbelievable. So much so that a decade later when I adopted a young dog I knew I had to make the trek back to Brooklyn to do my basic puppy training with Denise. This new dog is so well rounded and rock solid, and I attribute so much of that to the philosophies and dog smarts that Denise has. I would definitely recommend.
