Gristmill Recreation Area

Rainy day hike was full of wildlife, birds, blossoms, & flowers blooming. The trails were puddled in areas full of long thin worms & jeruselum crickets. Great place to explore.

Strictly a neighborhood river access. Big free parking lot. Fishing is popular here,This is a convenient place to rake your kayak or canoe out. Locals walking their dogs, kids skipping rocks. Nice find!

River access for fishing, trails for walking/hiking, great for birding. There are no toilets and there's a medium-large paid parking lot. Currently $7 per vehicle. Very nice area. Loved it but 4 stars for the lack of toilets.

First time here. I guess the water level is a bit lower than in the pictures I've seen of it during the winter. Easy access for parking. Short walk down to the water. Nice little place to visit.

Past the levy and a bit of dirt road brings you to the banks of the American River. Entrance is self pay and there are two chemical toilets and enough parking for perhaps 10-15 vehicles. The place is popular with fishermen and we were lucky enough to see a pair of sea lions from the bay going upstream presumably looking for Salmon.
