(from Google)Calm and clean water, but it gets pretty busy and crowded. Go at sunset for the best view and fresh air.
This is nice spot to launch paddle board or kayak, there is plenty parking in the early morning until the beach goers arrive. Restroom and water is near by. One can paddle the 2 mile loop around the harbor. We saw ton of pelicans on the seawall and seals around the bait barge. The wind picked up around 11AM when we were here making paddling back to the beach a work out.
The name says it all, it's an ideal beach for mom's and toddlers, nice sand, shallow water, no big waves and a protected swim area with life guards. We we there on a sunny summer Monday. Arrived at 10 am and the beach was fairly empty, but by noon it was rather crowded and again by 2 pm the crowd was thinning out. It a great place for kids to get used to water play, have fun in the sun and not have a bunch of big kids crashing around. Most of the crown appeared to be moms and kids with a few grand parents also. Lots of free parking but also lots to do in the area so you may have to drive around to find a spot. The beach is free. There are also shady grassy areas with tables and benches just east of the beach. I suggest bringing a wagon to load all your gear and spend a day at this awesome beach. The Ocean Institute is just across the parking lot. If you want more of an open ocean experience, Dohney State Beach is perhaps a quarter mile south. Several restaurants and rental stores between the two.
This is a beautifully maintained beach and park. The Dana Point Whale Festival held at Baby Beach was a great time for all!
Great small beach. No waves, perfect for little kids. Lots of grass and picnic tables as well. Bathrooms and showers. Free parking!
