Petco

So sad that I had to change my previuos review to a 1 star but unfortunately today thats what an employee gave. We went into the store to buy fish. After finding what we liked, my husband asked a girl for help. She proceeded to tell us they weren't going to sell and fish because all the other animals needed to be fed first and when she said it she was extremely rude. While I completely understand that the other animals needed to be fed, she rather lose petco a well over $100 sale instead of taking 5 minutes to get the fish. Absolutely insane and definitely not an employee I would ever ask to me help again.

We can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. Bove, at Bay Shore, Petco. She is not only incredibly knowledgeable but also deeply compassionate. From the moment we walked in, she treated our baby like family—gentle, patient, and attentive to every detail. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of our questions, and made sure our baby felt safe and comfortable. It’s clear that Dr. Bove truly loves what she does, and her dedication shines through in the care she provides. Thanks to her expertise and kindness, We always leave feeling confident that our baby is in the best hands possible. We are so grateful to have found such an amazing veterinarian! The entire staff is one of a kind we called in with our concerns and they were able to accommodate our baby right away. Thank you, forever grateful.

I desperately needed to find my cats special diet food. I ran out and my vet was out as well. I called other vets that have it but the experience left me frustrated as they wanted my cats records to purchase. I called Petco, Gina answered and it was such an amazing experience. I got my pets prescription and went to Petco. I got to meet Gina and was greeted with the most wonderful customer service. I can’t thank her enough for everything she did. She went above and beyond to help me and she saved the day for my kitties. Best customer service ever!!

I went to the bay shore location to get my two cats microchipped and the guy at the front told me the cats need to be in separate carriers. I told him i wasn’t aware that was a rule since I helped my dad few years ago to get his 2 cats microchipped at Petcos Syosset location in one carrier and the staff was fine with it. The guy did check me in and warned me that the staff might decline doing the service due to the carrier which I understand; however throughout the whole intake process he was still giving me an attitude about the whole carrier thing regarding the cats weight and I was getting irritated by it because i already told him I understand. Then after that there were other patients arriving checking in and I saw a customer that was carrying his dog with no leash on it (only a collar) and the guy didn’t give him a problem about it at all. I was very offput by it since he was giving me a problem about the carrier, but not with the guy about the leash. I search through my email to confirm the rules on carriers and leashes and found out that they both applied to cats and dogs under the quotes “dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers.” However I find the carriers rule misleading since it’s can be read as a general thing and interpreted differently to people rather than specifying to have cats in separate carriers. But regardless it doesn’t give him the right to be nasty at someone who wasn’t aware of the rule vs enabling someone to not following the rules. I will never come back and don’t recommend anyone to go.

I addition to the store being dirty, the woman ringing me up started on 10/28/25 around 3:05 for a dog color totaling $23.91 started talking about how her and her husband loved Donald Trump. I asked her if she was ok with child sex trafficking and rape and she said she loved Donald Trump anyway Why is she talking about this with a customer? I returned the item and won't be using Petco to shop for the 8 animals i am responsible for.
