(from Google)**post edit: I don't want to discourage you from visiting, there are several spots on this hike that you can get wet and the best and biggest one being right at the beginning of the hike next to the campsites, you can literally see it from above and its like a one minute walk from the road** So let me start off by saying that our camping group read that this was a family-friendly hike to the waterfall. However half of our city slickin' children got scared of the hike because there are incredibly narrow parts about 1/2 way down to the falls. So half of our group split up, my husband and I with seven kids in our group continued on and there were several obstacles like 2 fallen trees on the trail which were a little difficult for me to go over because I was 8 months pregnant and I had a one and a half year old on my back, a 4 year old and a 5-year-old to also help over the logs all while trying not to fall off the side of the cliff lol. But those were the least of our worries, because we were determined to get to the waterfall, so fast forward 20 minutes and we get to the top of the waterfall, and now we have to climb down it which is a very steep decline to get to it and surprisingly all the kids were adventurous enough to give it a shot but I know that had the first half of our group stayed with us they would have not gone down the rope and rocks to get to the waterfall. Luckily we had this backpack carrier instead of the front carrier for the kids that my husband was able to go up and down three separate times to get the little kids up to the top once we did get down, but if we didn't have that backpack carrier it would have been an accident waiting to happen. The waterfall itself was gorgeous and everybody had a great time and it was a nice treat at the end of a grueling hike, and the way back is all upward but I feel like the adrenaline was pumping so it was feeling a lot easier than it actually was.
Hiking was tough for me but it was so much fun! Water fall was so refreshing! Not many people were here! Hidden spot!
Easy trail down to falls. A rope that looks questionable is there to help in the last 20 ft. Falls has a low flow right now. Some graffiti on the trail : ( trailhead begins at the campsite.
Great hike. FYI, if the Buckhorn Campground is not closed, drive through it to reach the Burkhart Trailhead. If it's closed, you will need to park on the side of the highway nearby or at the Buckhorn Day Use Area and hike in from there.
Really amazing trail all down hill. Complete the whole loop. Keep your ears and eyes open for wildlife. Pick up your one day Adventure Pass at the entrance Or your local ranger station , contact local sporting goods store find out the carrier one day adventure pass. The views really Priceless in this place. Note there is a campground. There is a bathroom in the middle of the trail. During summer waterfall it's kind of small. But the experience is priceless.
