(from Google)Do not EVER take your pet to the VCA emergency vet on Mendocino. After his second urinary obstruction in 4 days & 2nd 3 day stay, I pleaded with them to do a urinalysis for days as he had a fever and they refused! DOCTOR BROWN said “he’s too young to get a UTI and we’re not going to do a urinalysis because of your financial situation- being on a payment plan.” The Humane Society stepped up and tested him first thing. MOMMA KNOWS!! I will always advocate for the ones I love, doesn’t matter if he’s an animal or a human. He’s my baby. I want to also mention that they Roughly handled him going in the first time, The one lady carrying him balancing him on one leg, dropping his catheter on the ground That painfully pulled on his urethra, While swinging the door open to the hospital. she could have dropped him! They have no automatic doors. The handicap door button doesn’t work. The VCA values profit over animals & doing proper test testing even if a concerned pet parent begs them. It was a no-brainer to do a urinalysis when he had a fever And his second obstruction. He had all the symptoms of a urinary tract infection. I am a furious pet parent. There will be consequences VCA!
I had to bring my dog in after an attack. We called them on the way to let them know. When we walked in, they greeted us by name and swung into action. Fredy was lovely. My phone was dying and he went out of his way to find me the right charger. Laura was also great in her hand off and made sure we had everything we needed and meds were explained. Dr.Angus sent a follow up text a few days later which was the cherry on top of the already great experience. While I hope I don’t need to see them anytime soon, I will always come to this location. *also of note: they have special pricing during holiday season. It’s such an incredibly kind gesture.
VCA took the BEST care of us and our cat, I am completely over the moon with how amazing our emergency visit went. We had to take our kitty in on NYE evening, and while it is not an ideal situation to be in, they made the experience as stress-free and compassionate as possible. They quoted us a wait time of 8ish hours, which in my experience is pretty average for an ER. After 10 minutes or so, they took us back to get vitals done and hold onto our kitty while they discussed treatment options. Both the assisting technician and primary doctor were incredibly kind and understanding, and laid out very transparent and varied pricing for different procedures. We ended up opting for the lower range and less intensive exam, which was quoted at about $1300-$1500. We completely understood, and while a bit steep, is again average for what needed to be done. To our surprise (and delight) they told us they would hang onto our cat and give him some mild sedatives while he waited to be seen. They gave us some good food recommendations near by, and let us know they’d give us a call when he was ready. Once again, to our absolute surprise, they gave us a call THREE HOURS later that it was a successful procedure and he was all ready to go! We rushed to get him and they had us settle up our bill. The total? $420. I nearly broke down in tears on the spot, I sincerely was not expecting the cost to be so low. Every single staff member from the receptionists, assistants/residents, and doctors were SO nice despite working in what I imagine is a high-intensity and stressful work environment. Our cat is almost back to full health less than 48 hours later, and the weight has been lifted off of our chests. I cannot thank the heroes that work here enough for everything they do.
VCA PetCare saved my dog's life. By the time I walked in at 4:30 pm with my limp, glassy-eyed baby, his heart pounding in his chest, I was afraid he was already a goner. The tech saw me immediately and took him back for doctor assessment. He was placed in an oxygen tent right away and doc came in to give me the scene... congestive heart failure. I approved IV, xray and labs and was allowed to go back and see him. A few times. I was reluctant to go home without him, because I was afraid he would die. The doctor explained that he needed IV meds for awhile to excrete the fluid aroung his lungs and heart, and the O2 was greatly helping. They would taper him off IV for oral meds toward morning. They were extremely kind and tolerant with me. I went home at 9pm, but woke up and called about 0230 saying I wanted to come get him. They advised against it, and they were right, but I imagined him wondering where Mama was. Bodhi has since seen his regular vet for anuria and had an Rx dose and adjustment, and is making progress. I am extremely grateful to VCA PetCare for saving my Bodhi's life and reacting with immediacy, great technical skills and LOVE. Special thanks to Molly for her crisis management skills in dealing with a determined and an aggressive owner when picking up my dog. THANK YOU FOR SAVING BODHI'S LIFE.
AWESOME VET CARE!!! I live in Lake County which has no emergency vet services on weekends! A friend recommended VCA to me! I arrived Sunday at 10 pm and as soon as I pulled in, the parking lot and clinic were all lit up, I walked in, was greeted and the tech took my puppy's and my info. It was very large, clean, and comfortable. I waited about 25 minutes, and a tech came out, and we discussed the issues. The tech was kind, informative, and calming! Through the whole process, I was informed and felt there was no bs, and most of all I didn't feel judged! They offered coffee, tea, hot and cold water, clean restrooms and it felt safe! I am thankful and so appreciative for VCA services and crew! Thank you so much 🐾✌🏻💜
