(from Google)I had a negative experience here. I understand they have to treat physically demanding injuries first but my dog was vomiting blood and although they claim she was bright and aware she’s been lethargic all day hardly able to move. I got a second opinion and they did not do all the tests they should have such as a cpl or ultrasound and were saying she might have this but just bring her back if it gets worse. I prefer preventative care because my dog’s well being is my main priority. They were either severely understaffed today or just not a trust worthy clinic. the communication was terrible. they didn’t do their due diligence because they didn’t consider my dog priority. I wanted a diagnosis and after thousands of dollars i sat for 4 hours and got an oh she may have this but idk and a discharge. Other facilities allow you to stay with your pet they had the most unwelcoming atmosphere. Obviously most everyone there is in tears and instead of having accommodations to comfort you you’re sitting in stiff chairs with out a room or ability to stay with your dog. It was heartbreaking that they think this is good treatment. I learned they had one vet on staff with 13 animals needing care. Transparency would’ve helped because I would have taken my pup somewhere else if they would’ve been honest about not having the staff to tend to her. The night nurse was very kind but i’ll definitely be getting a second opinion.
I had a truly great experience at MedVet Dallas! I saw the interim neurologist, Dr. Rivera, who was absolutely wonderful. She sat down & talked with me about what could possibly be wrong, gave me all the information & options, and we were able to talk through them. I truly felt like she cared & wanted what was best for my little guy. While expensive, if you need a specialist - this is the place to go!
Dr. Abigail Sturbaum is an Angel. During our two visits, she was caring, compassionate, thorough, and did absolutely everything she possibly could to save Donny - our fur baby - leaving no stone unturned. She clearly takes a pro-active approach and advocates for all her clients. We were referred to MedVet by Dr. Kevin Donnelly due to an infected tooth root abscess that was affecting Donny's right eye. Dr. Sturbaum and the tech were in the room to address any questions and concerns and he was immediately able to be taken for a ct scan to determine what, if anything, was wrong. He had to be dropped off for those few hours and picked up before the end of the day. Dr. Sturbaum was in constant contact with me regarding Donny. I promptly received a phone call with all her updates and findings. His biopsy came back as nasal adenocarcinoma less than a week later. Dr. Sturbaum called me with those results as well and said since MEDVET does not have a radiation oncology unit at their facility, that Donny would be transferred to VCA Dallas Specialty Hospital. She immediately informed them of Donny and less than a week later, we were already scheduled for an appointment. The nasal adenocarcinoma turned out to be localized and Donny received SRT for three days in March at VCA Dallas. He was doing so well with his radiation treatments until he suddenly and unexpectedly declined the morning of May 1, 2026. He couldn't walk very well. He was not interested in eating. He had IMTP and a ct scan showed little tumors in his abdomen, spleen, and perforations in his colon, an indication that the cancer had metastasized throughout his body. We made the extremely difficult decision to end Donny's suffering by giving him one final send off over the Rainbow Bridge late Friday night on May 1st, 2026. The staff at VCA Dallas were compassionate, kind, and caring. They let us spend as much time as we needed with Donny after his transition. If it wasn't for Dr. Sturbaum and her speedy referral to VCA Dallas, Donny would not have been in the best possible place at the time he needed urgent medical attention and end-of-life care. We are heartbroken, and the grief comes in waves. Dr. Sturbaum - you are an Angel. Thank God for people like you. Your deepest and heartfelt condolences mean so much to us. We received your sympathy card and will always remember the lasting impact you had on Donny's life.
Sadly, we had to bring our dog Izzie here as a final option to figure out what was going on. Unfortunately, we did have to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye, but the staff was truly amazing. They explained all of our options in a way we could understand and clearly broke down the pricing for everything. Everyone was so kind and understanding of our situation. When we made the decision, we never felt rushed. They have a peaceful, private room where you can say your goodbyes, which meant so much to us during such a difficult time. We greatly appreciated their compassion and care.
I’m happy I did NOT read the reviews before rushing my girl to this hospital! She was knocking on death’s door by the time I took her to MedVet and they saved her life! She had been eating little to nothing for 7 weeks due to traumatic first (and last) experience at the groomers, immediately followed by moving to a new home. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis and fatty liver disease. From the first phone call, interacting with receptionists at the front desk, emails, vet techs, vet doctors—a spectacular experience. They called and texted with updates at least twice a day, when I would request lab results they would email immediately. Everyone I interacted with was extremely caring, patient, kind, and laidback. And most importantly, they saved my girl!!!! She required a feeding tube after 1 week hospital stay and they taught me how to use it to administer food and medicine. After 1 week the tube came out and I stopped all medicines (they recommended continuing some of her medicines but I felt she was ready to get off them completely so I took the risk) and she’s been eating on her own and on the road to recovery! Filled with immense gratitude for everyone at MedVet. I never had to wait long when checking in! Super seamless convenient process… including processing very high charges ;) can’t say enough great things about MedVet Dallas. Hope I never have to go back but if I do, going here!
