Oak Grove Lake Park

Its a pretty chill lake area. Few people were fishing when I got there. Nice walking designated area around the lake, only wish itd be an actual side walk or a trail and not just a line separating you and the cars as few cars passed by us speeding without even moving over

My son loves to fish here, and I enjoy sitting by the pond with a good book—and the two friendliest white ducks you’ll ever meet. I’m sure others have named them too, but I call them Puddleglum and Polly. It’s such a peaceful, beautiful place with just the right number of people around—you never feel too crowded, but you’re never completely alone either. I love seeing families walking the trail around the pond or kids learning to fish with their parents. It’s a quiet gem of nature right in our town, and I’m so grateful for it.

It was my very first time at this lake, for fishing bigmouth bass. The reviews and photos online were somewhat mixed, so I was curious to see what my personal impressions would be. I was there yesterday, Saturday, July 19, 2025, early in the morning around 7 a.m. at the westside parking lot, and surprisingly, it was already relatively full, 70-80% full with lots of other anglers and dog owners walking their pets. My first impression was of a very beautiful, well-maintained lake. I was immediately impressed. However, as a nature lover, when I stepped onto the shore, I noticed a lot of trash left behind: lots of plastic bottles and a lot of garbage from people without sense or sustainability. It's a pity that some people don't appreciate and respect this nature and it makes me sad but also angry at the same time I spontaneously chose the peninsula or rather the picnic bench as my fishing spot. The peace and quiet in the morning is generally very nice. Many reviews said there were no fish in there, but my experience was completely different. I think many of these comments are because they didn't catch anything. However, it's not easy to trick a fish. You need experience and to know where the fish look for food. You also need to know the fish you want to catch and what it eats in its natural habitat. My insider tip is to use very small hooks, size 12 or 14 (max. 5mm), and a piece of worm to catch small baitfish. Then, using them on a float to catch large bass. It worked really well for me, and I caught a total two verd beautiful fishes , 2.5 pounds and even 3 pound bigmouth bass who fighted very hard, catch and release, of course. Please, please, dear people and visitors at this lake, take your personal trash back Home with you. To the Greenville county and community, please put out more trash bins out there. I couldn't find any, so I took my trash home with me. 5 stars would be a restroom for kids In total it was a 4-5 hour half day great fishing trip.. i will come back again..

Cozy beautiful lake park for fishing, picnic, dog walking, run, etc. My kids love to go there and see ducks, goose families and fish.

It's a beautiful small Lake and you can tell that the community takes a lot of pride in keeping it this way. We fished there every so often, haven't caught anything other than stumpknockers but we got an amazing surprise and a history lesson from one of the local residents there. Apparently someone in that area who moved and had a goldfish pond, release the Goldfish into the pond to avoid having to kill them. They are pretty large now and are absolutely beautiful.
