Pet Supermarket

I've been visiting the one in Ruskin for several years, The one in Bloomingdale is a less crowded store but they do have some good hospitality. I appreciate them a lot. They can use some help when it comes to having a variety of reptiles, they asked me about my Blue Tongue Skink and I happily have them as much info as I could. The company should provide some form of learning form or training like Pet Supplies Plus does.

This location will prioritize their pockets over you or your pets. As someone who has worked the chain before, I’m familiar with the rewards system and a lot of the products they have to offer. I recently moved to the area and my first day shopping with them, the cashier attached “free dog cookies” to my transaction. Already knowing what this meant I confronted her to ask her for the return, as the cookies were not free, they were attached to cancel out my five dollar rewards. (For those who don’t know, signing up to their rewards program certifies you 5 dollars for every 100 spent.) only to find out the woman ringing me up is the store manager who proceeds to have a hussy fit with me saying “you didn’t pay for them.” And trying to lie that she didn’t use my rewards for them. Her attitude was horrid and blatantly rude for a mistake that was clearly hers. To clarify, the situation could have easily been avoided if she had just asked if I wanted to use my rewards to take home some cookies for my pet. Been there once or twice after and it is clear that the staff is all trained to boost their KPI this way and will ultimately say whatever benefits them.

I just bought a box of tiki cat wet food and there’s literal maggot eggs on the inside of the box and I didn’t even notice until I used like two of the cans and I’m utterly disgusted. I used to go here all the time and I want my money back

Bought 4 gouramis from this location, all had ich(white parasitic spots on fins). Staff member lied and told me those were just “markings”. Well markings don’t spread to the rest of my fish. In store tanks are dirty and have dead fish floating in them. Looks like I’ll have to spend money fixing a problem that should’ve been handled by staff before fish were cleared for sale.

Love this location! This is my go to pet store. The employees start to know you and gave me some great advice for my cat that was stressed out and the food for my dogs. The rewards program they have is AWESOME- one of the main reasons I go here to shop. The store is always clean, you can donate to local shelters and they have cats from local shelters there to adopt. I like when it's adoptable pets there instead of breeding ones. Good for them! Employees are always nice here too!
