(from Google)We chose to come to Hatton after a poor experience elsewhere. Hatton was exactly what we needed as we handled our senior cats last weeks. They seemed fairly priced, offered multiple options while never pushing us into any decisions, and they were so compassionate in helping ease the transition for or sweet boy. Following his passing they sent us a sweet card with his paw print and had offered to save some of his fur for us. I highly recommend.
On Monday our dog was mauled by a pitbull. I immediately called his vet (Hatton) to ask what to do. The receptionist said, "Don't bring him here, we are getting ready to close (it was 5pm)." She didn't offer a recommendation to a hospital. We spent the night at the Vista ER and they recommended a follow up in 3-5 days. I called Hatton Tuesday morning and they scheduled an appointment for Thursday afternoon. 2 hours later, it was clear something was very wrong, so I called Hatton to let them know he was panting and crying incessantly. The receptionist said they didn't have any appointments available today and if I rescheduled for Wednesday, that I would still have to pay for Thursday. I rushed him back to Vista and he was admitted to the ICU. Thursday morning he was still in the ICU, so I called Hatton to move his appointment to Friday. The receptionist said that they had an opening on Friday, but that I still had to pay for Thursday. I asked if I could bring my other dog for a well check and nail trim Thursday since I had to pay anyhow. She said no because the appointment wasn't for my other dog. I then asked if my dog died, would I still have to pay for the appointment. She put me on hold. She came back on and said her supervisor gave her one time permission to move my appointment to Friday, but that if I ever changed an appointment again, I would have to pay. (How generous of you since my dog is in the ICU!). Thursday night, our dogs wounds began to necrose and he had to have emergency surgery Friday. (Joy, I get to call Hatton again.) This time and only this time, the lady that answered the phone was professional and actually showed compassion for the fact our dog was in ICU recovering from emergency surgery. She canceled the appointment and said to call back for his follow up when he was out of the hospital. I called first thing Monday morning to let them know he was home and that the ER doc wanted the bandages changed today. Rude lady said that her Dr's don't follow other Dr's orders and they may or may not change the bandages if I brought him in. I explained he had necrosis surgery and needed his bandages changed. She said they could see him at 11:30, but they might not change the bandages and that if I wanted the bandages changed, I should go back to the Dr. that wants them changed. I said changing the bandages wasn't negotiable and she again said, they could see him at 11:30, but they would not follow up with the ER directives and would decide themselves what he needed. At this point I asked if a Dr. could call me or review the ER records and she said I could pay to have him seen at 11:30, but they might not change the bandages. At that point I let her know that I would need to find a new vet that was able to change his bandages so his surgery site doesn't get infected. She then hung up on me. Needless to say, I'm back at the ER getting his bandages changed and I don't even care what they charge me today because they were all so happy to see him. They all know his name and actually care about him. His Dr. at Hatton was amazing, but a Dr. is worthless if the office staff is rude, unprofessional and completely lack any empathy.
So thankful to have found this vet. I'd give 6 stars if I could. After taking my dog to another vet several times and having an issue getting her the right meds and treatment for an ear infection and skin allergy, this vet took a different approach and, with the right testing and a single in-office treatment, had the entire ear issue resolved in 2 weeks. They also sent home a different and much more effective topical treatment for the skin reaction that started clearing up within days. My dog is healthy and happy again, and we had the best experience with all of the staff. On top of this, they have an app that makes it super easy to book appointments. You don't have to wait and call during the hours they're open; you can get on anytime, day or night, and book the appointment you need. Can't recommend this vet enough.
I have been bringing my dog to Hatton for over a decade now. My dogs primary Vet is Dr. Takata. She is one of the most knowledgeable, experienced, and compassionate veterinarians I’ve known. She truly cares for the wellbeing of your pet as a family member and you as a pet parent. Iv had the opportunity to work with a few other vets at Hatton and they are very capable to the same standards that Hatton sets for their patients. All the other support staff at Hatton are very professional warm and friendly as well where I am always greeted with a smile as I walk in w my boy. Also I do appreciate that they have made it a priority to improve on their checkout times as that is very critical when you have a pet that is sick and needs to be home to get comfortable and destress. I know it will get even better since they are always striving to be their best. I highly recommend Hatton for all your animal care needs.
We have been going to Hatton for 12 years. We have 2 German shepherds and 2 cattle dogs. The shepherds have always had such a comfortable experience with the vets- that they love going to the vet. My 2 cattle dogs ages 5 and 3 are impossible at the vet- terrified. They have accommodated us in every way possible to make them comfortable. They have never asked to take them without me. We gently sedate them, and use a muzzle when vet must have contact, and we put a cone on them as well, so when they do attempt to bite, the cone blocks the fear of the bite strike. At this last visit with Dr. Chen- Bluesy (blue healer) actually laid down after his exam- and to some big sighs. Whitewolf (ACD) when he needed to get neutered they had him lay on a blanket, snuck a shot to sedate him, without him knowing, then once asleep took him back for surgery. They went above and beyond to make sure these complex and at times unruly dogs are comfortable and safe- in hopes one day they will love the vet as much as my shepherds. My oldest German shepherd Chief tore his ACL- and they recommenced Chineese herbs- within 9 months (along with bracing and resting) Chief was able to freely roam the property again and lived out his life. I’m truly grateful for Hatton veterinary and the old fashion pet centered practices they offer. I highly recommend them, and the use of Chineese herbs to treat ailments. Had to take our barn cat named Phil in- He seen Dr. Chen and actually snuggled up to him and purred- minus the car ride (we played you tube purring music) he enjoyed his visit. I personally believe this has everything to do with the vets working here and the genuine care and compassion in the practice. Wish you the greatest success in our community.
