Mengerson Nature Reserve - ACRES Land Trust

If you have a dog I don’t recommend it. Lots of thorny plants so I was having to pick him up and he got a bug in his eyeball and stepped on a bramble thing that thankfully didn’t injure him but it did hurt a little bit. Also a few pieces of glass were on the ground. Many mosquitoes which seemed to specifically go for the eyes….. other than that, very nice place, very natural and picturesque, and lots of space. It was pretty fun, we got lost and I felt like I was inside the movie ‘In The Tall Grass.’ I also heard a gunshot with a weird yelp, I don’t know what that was about but it made the walk spooky for a bit. Overall, good, but not for dogs and you should know what you’re getting into (mosquitos and thorns.)

Very primitive nature trail. Make sure your phone is charged up because it would be easy to get lost. Also lots of trip hazards, both from roots and from ramps added in. My guess is this place can get pretty muddy so be prepared for that as well. Saw a few birds, squirrels, a woodpecker, and lots of different types of mushroom, many which are poisonous. Also, probably should wear long pants (poison ivy) and bug spray. Overall a nice place to forget you're in the middle of a city!

I parked at the entrance on Stellhorn Rd which is marked with a sign, but there's also access from the shopping plaza, it's just not marked at all from there. The northern half of this hike is very nice, there's large trees and the path is wide. The southern half is narrow is very wet in the spring. I suggest wearing shoes you don't mind getting muddy, otherwise it's a great little woods hike in the city. Our hike overall was just shy of 2 miles. People walk here from the surrounding neighborhoods so there were a few others enjoying the trails as well.

Everytime I went, it's super muddy. It has a swampy place. The path is mostly dirty with some planks for muddy areas. It's very quiet. There's only parking for 1 spot. If you like nature and trees. You should check it out
