Angelo's Tropical Fish World

Hooray for the "Mom-n-Pop" local fish store! Owner is super informative & patient, and seemingly always working in the store ... so it is a great place to get actual, useful answers while you shop, & ... the available fish (fresh water & marine), and plants are well cared for. Overall, great shop with broad selection of healthy selections, and awesome owner/operator. Definitely worth a visit, and I strongly prefer it to all of the "Big Box" pet stores around here. It is also my preference to support locally owned businesses, since even if the prices are a wee bit higher, family businesses are almost always more caring, and it keeps the money here.

I’ve been a keeping animals or maintaining aquariums for most of my life. A Durham native, I recently found Angelos Tropical Fish World, and can’t rave enough about what a great resource this is! Angelo, a very kind man and owner, is very knowledgeable and welcoming. He recommended a few aquatic plants and food for my aquatic frogs, and they love it so much! That’s why I wanted to post a review—My frogs are so excited, and I’m a very, very happy customer. Here they are “breakdancing” and showing me how much they love the anachris! I also have a horticulture degree, and these are the healthiest aquatic plants that I have ever bought! Thanks Angelo! I’ll be back! Ps. Pardon the dust, I use fluval stratum 🐸🍤

Angelo's is a hidden gem. Nestled in the back of a low key shopping center, Angelo's has a wide range of high quality supplies and livestock at really good prices, even compared to big box stores. I've bought a few livestock here and all have come home happy and healthy. It's also great that Angelo himself is very knowledgeable and friendly - I find myself coming up with excuses to go visit to see his tanks and chat. Highly recommend for the serious fishkeeper in the Durham area!

My husband and I absolutely love coming here! We go visit at least once a week. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about all types of fish - saltwater and freshwater. We’re starting out on our fish journey and he has been the biggest help. The owner is very personable too and really knows his customers. The prices are unmatched, not to mention how healthy the aquatic life and plants are!

Angelo's is great. Everyone there is super nice, and Angelo is very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a great selection, and the prices beat everyone around. We've been twice now including their grand opening, and are planning on being frequent customers. We've been to multiple local and chain stores, and don't plan on shopping anywhere else. Pic is a cherry shrimp, we picked up four and they're very healthy.
