(from Google)Alex helped us during our visit after we had gone to another emergency vet up north without getting any answers and were up all night & exhausted. He took the time to really understand what was going on with my dog, Ellee, and worked closely with the Doctor on next steps. Thankfully, the treatment she recommended helped her. The entire staff including the front desk team were friendly and thoughtful. Thank you for helping us in a time of need. We will be coming back.
My puppy is alive today because of my persistence & love but Banned wrongfully! And that’s why I’m writing this review for the lack of professionalism and empathy. Being a veterinarian I assume they would have empathy and comprehension to our concerns when it comes to our furbabies. But I got the total opposite the day I took my pup to the this urgent care! My plan wasn’t to go in there and question the Head Dr/Owner (apparently I can’t say names) Dr M’s knowledge or her course of treatment. But I took my pup in because he had bleeding at the gums. Red spotting at the belly. Lethargic. Which matches the side effects of rat poisoning. Which would make perfect sense because we had just put out rat poison a couple day’s prior! I told the vet this. I even took her the poison bag which specified “note to vet give vitamin K” she said it couldn’t be that, that he was extremely anemic and needed a blood transfusion ASAP. “He’s dying on us. He’s has until tonight, max until tomorrow to live” The blood transfusion is $1000-$2000 something I didn’t have right at that moment! So again, I mentioned the vitamin K, I asked, “can you please administer the vitamin K and try that and see how he does with that what if that works?” (Vitamin K is essential for dogs, primarily acting to enable normal blood clotting, support bone health, and reverse anticoagulant rodenticide poisoning ) Again she said “I can’t prescribe something if it is not what he needs” She said it wouldn’t come out in the blood work either?! But I’m telling her I put out rat poison and he was fine prior to this, I still don’t understand why she would suggest the more expensive route. I wonder if her ego was hurt, because a nobody like me, without a degree or knowledge on the veterinary field went into her office, asking questions not settling for the more expensive route. Because I did my research and knew exactly what my baby needed, because I proved points that were obvious, so obvious they were printed on the poison packaging and yet she still refused to administer the vitamin K, which clearly defines medical negligence but I’m not a professional to determine that nor accusing. She wanted to break me and she did. I left that office devastated and she just had a smirk. And denied completely any other ultimatum, not even liver, which helps blood platelets. No natural remedy. I had to implore for the medication that was given! No empathy! And apparently she took it so personal that she took it upon herself to ban me from all locations, (FOR NON PAY!) Harlingen and McAllen. Since she is the owner, she can make decisions like that whenever she pleases. So if she’s having a bad day or gets a customer like me and you ask to many questions and don’t settle and she wants to ban you, she will. I was respectful to her. Having an anxiety attack yes but respectful. I was crying in the office yes but excuse me I see my pup like one of my children! What if my baby would have died because she refused to administer the vitamin K? When they go, there is no turning back but he has a mom that doesn’t give up, and that’s why he is here today, I didn’t sleep that night constantly checking on my baby and feeding him liver. The next day I called the office as soon as they opened I called to speak to another vet in the same office and ask for the vitamin K, which was when Dr. G spoke to me, she went over his medical file and prescribed the vitamin K. I picked up & paid for it. I always paid for every single service that was given to us and he is not the only pup that I have there. (I got receipts)I have another one of my pups that is a patient there ( I rescue) and I have never had a problem like this before. Draco reacted as expected to the vitamin K! Over night his symptoms subsided. The bleeding went away. The red spotting went away. He wasn’t lethargic anymore, he is alive and doing fantastic. Actively trying to herd my other pups lol. I hope nothing like this happens to anyone else, a real scare. I am so grateful that my chunky boy is here today! Thank you for taking the time to read!
Very friendly and attentive staff. I took my dog because she was not eating and having diarrhea. They explained all the procedures they were going to do and gave us the price breakdown before doing the procedures. The test results were then explained to us and the medication they were going to administer was also explained in great detail. The whole process took about 2 hours and it was our first time here. The doctor even mentioned that if we had any concerns or questions to call the office and she’d be happy to speak with us. Would definitely bring my dog back.
I brought Frankie in today to be seen for some mouth issues. We were a walk in patient and we're seen within 15-20 mins of our arrival. Kristina, our tech, was very welcoming and attentive. She even brought Frankie a blanket so he wouldn't have to be on the cold table. Dr. Martinez was very quick in her exam and thorough in her explanation. The cost was discussed up front before anything was done. We left HUV feeling pretty good. Today was a walk in visit but I believe we have found our new veterinary home. Frankie and I thank you both for taking such good care of us. Already seeing small improvements since he got his medicine.
Took in my pup yesterday Sunday for strong reverse sneezing episodes with fear that maybe she had gotten something stuck in her nose or hurt her trachea. We drove from Brownsville because her usual vet was booked out. I wish I could give this place 6 stars seriously. The staff is freaking great. They got me an appointment immediately once I called. Doc is so kind, positive, & knowledgable. She explained everything in great detail to me including how to administer medication & let me choose what I could & couldn't afford for my pup in advance. She even made sure to have all my pups medication prepared as a suspension because she's a drama queen who hates swallowing pills. The prices & service are so good for Urgent Care compared to sooo many other places here in the valley. I came out with full body & head xrays, medication, and an urgent consultation for 260, absolutely incredible price for the service. 12/10, highly considering changing vets full time after this!
