Friendship Hospital for Animals - Emergency and Specialty Center

Extremely kind and attentive staff all round. Ive been bringing my cat in on a dermatology referral of his primary care vet and all staff but especially those in that department have been so so kind and courteous in explaining his condition, laying out treatment options, and keeping me updated on his procedure as it was happening. My cat's situation has gotten difficult but everyone from front of staff to the specialty Coordinators to Dr. Kunder have been so kind and professional. I feel very supported and fully recommend them to anyone going through a general or specialized pet health situation.

This review is for the dermatology department specifically. We first saw Dr Kunder early this month. She took her time with us, going over my dogs history, and I felt she truly listened to my concerns without shutting down my thoughts, but instead guiding me with her professional experience. She’s patient, informative, and incredibly responsive. I am extremely appreciative with how responsive she is via email (something I’ve really only experienced with my boutique vet) - and would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone that is looking to deal with their pets allergies and more.

Friendship Heights Animal Hospital has been incredible for our dog, Oscar. He had cancer surgery and a lipoma removed from his rear leg in September, and the entire team took care of him with so much skill, compassion, and genuine kindness. When he later developed an infection (entirely our fault for using the wrong size cone), they were amazing every step of the way—responsive, reassuring, and always willing to see him immediately whenever he had a setback. You can tell everyone there truly loves what they do and cares about the animals as if they were their own. We chose Friendship Heights based on their outstanding reviews and even though we were driving 45 minutes to an hour from Alexandria each way, we would make that exact same choice again without hesitation. Oscar is doing great now, and we are so grateful to the entire team for getting him through all of this. If you’re looking for a place where your pet will be treated with expertise and heart, this is it.

I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with Friendship Hospital For Animals; the specialists, Dr. Kunder in Dermatology ( i can not say enough kind things) and Dr. Armour in Ortho, were so excellent with Roo. Both doctors are So nice and very caring . I knew Roo was in great hands. The staff and front desk were awesome as well very friendly and knowledgable . Additionally, having pet insurance through Trupanion proved to be highly beneficial, making the process straightforward and affordable with no complications.

Everyone I’ve encountered at this Veterinary Hospital has been incredibly kind and helpful. I have brought my cat into both the Emergency and Neurology departments, complete with an overnight stay. My 11 year old cat was diagnosed with two brain tumors, and while the news is terrible the team delivered it with an incredible amount of empathy and sensitivity. He hates the vet, but the care that he has gotten has been great. Dr. Haley has taken so much time and care on his case and always ensures my questions are answered. Highly recommend, this is some of the best vet care I’ve ever received!
