Dixie Canyon Park

The trail is not maintained, muddy and slippery. Better to park before entering the narrow alley and hike alone Dixie canyon ave to Mulholland.

This was an unexpectedly *really cool* hike. I did it with my 6-yr-old on a rainy day. Paths are not super kept, it was wet and kind of slide-y but we got to the top and enjoyed some really cool views. The pictures really don't do it justice. Enter from the top of Dixie Canyon.

Wanted to try a new place close to home found this in hiking suggestions. Interesting little back trail inside a residential area of Sherman oaks. Trails are strategically thin and can get steep.. unmarked so be aware a trail might lead no where or have been overgrown. Wear good shoes and be prepared for a mini adventure. I only di a bit over 1/2 mile. I will go back to find other routes.

Nice place to hike not good for 3 years or younger. It is steep in some places and there is lots of vegetation on the trail now.

I had a early morning visit to Dixie Canyon park today, seeking out very local hikes to my new home in Sherman Oaks. It was chilly and overcast, not a typical August morning but it was just perfect. The paths are unmarked and a bit unmanaged which I found to be perfectly fine. I love the wilderness aspect. Rugged terrain and challenge. It is not an easy hike. It is moderate. Some pretty loose footing and hilly. Parking is not easy. You best park a few blocks below and walk up to the entrance. Thank you Warren Beatty for this gift. I will enjoy it frequently.
