(from Google)I came to Hardin Valley because it was the closet vet after my dog was attacked by a much bigger dog. They triaged her, took X-rays, started an IV and gave har pain meds. They didn’t have the proper facilities for her care and called UT and arranged for them to take me immediately and sent them the X-rays and information. They were very responsive to our needs and were very supportive emotionally. I live in Louisville and would consider them for my vet if I wasn’t so far away.
They are always so nice. They take great care of my bestest boy Tyson. He is a senior doggo and has has some issues recently, he had to have a major surgery recently and they have taken great care of him. They answer questions and are always excited to see him. He loves coming here every time. Glad we choose them to take care of Tyson. Will always go here.
We’ve been clients at Hardin Valley Animal Hospital since 2016 and until recently had generally decent experiences. Unfortunately, today completely changed that. My dog Bear is one month overdue for his annual physical—life happens, we just moved houses, and we’ve always been responsible pet owners and on top of our dogs’ care. When I was here a month ago, I picked up Simparica Trio for both of my dogs (Bear and Ralph) and scheduled Bear’s overdue annual with his primary vet, Dr. Moxley (who has always been great!), for the first available appointment with her—which is coming up in three weeks. At that visit, they had no issue giving me his medication. Today, when I came to pick up their next Simparica Trio doses, they would only give me Ralph’s and refused Bear’s, saying he can’t get it because he’s overdue… even though his appointment is already scheduled. The front desk employee then told me, “Since we can’t give you Bear’s Simparica Trio until his appointment in 3 weeks, you’ll want to have him tested for heartworms since he’ll be without it.” That’s incredibly frustrating. My dog has never missed his medication. The only reason he would now is because they won’t release it—even with an upcoming appointment already booked. It felt less about my dog’s health and more about creating an opportunity for more testing and charges. After being loyal clients for nearly a decade, this was a huge disappointment. Policies like this come across as rigid, unnecessary, and frankly money-driven rather than client-focused. We will not be returning and I would not recommend this practice to others.
This was our first visit to the vet with a kitty I inherited after my dear aunt passed. Kelpie is sweet as can be but she is very anxious in new situations and she is not a fan of vet visits. Dr. Ledford and the staff at HVAN went above and beyond in making us, and most especially Kelpie, feel comfortable. The front desk staff immediately escorted us into a room since there was a large (but very sweet) dog on a leash at the front desk in the "cat" area that certainly would have made Kelpie even more anxious despite the cat carrier she was in. Dr. Ledford and Vet Tech Madison had no problem sitting on the floor and letting Kelpie approach them. We felt very welcome and Kelpie was very well cared for.
A little on the expensive side BUT worth it. My dog Banjo is very anxious at the vet and also dog reactive. He’s been to another vet once years ago and was aggressive. I wanted him to get his vaccines and they recommended setting up a fear free exam to see what we could get done. They were AWESOME!!! He got all his vaccines and they were so great with him he didn’t aggressive at all. I was so nervous to bring him to any vets after the last experience so I am very grateful to the vets and staff that gave us such a peaceful experience. I would 100% recommend Hardin Valley Animal Hospital to anyone with anxious or reactive dogs!! Or any pets in general, really.
