(from Google)My 4 month old puppy Mabel spent 5 days with Dan and his family - I’m incredibly pleased and impressed with the training and the care she received. From the videos Dan sent, it was clear she was not only happy and stimulated during her stay, but was given a great deal of love and attention. At pickup Dan spent the time to explain specifically what the training involved and then Mabel showed us it worked! I highly recommend Dan as a trainer and his home as an excellent place to board a dog.
We feel so lucky to have found Dan, Holly, and their family. From the very first stay, it was clear that this is more than just a dog boarding business—it’s a warm, loving home where every dog is treated like one of their own. Fiona, our 20-pound golden doodle, can be a little... particular. She’s sweet and cuddly, but also strong-willed, extremely food-driven, and needs extra time (and patience!) when meeting new dogs—especially those her size or smaller. She can be a bit spicy at first, but all she really wants is to play, especially a good game of chase. Dan has such a calm, intuitive approach with her. She absolutely adores him—and Holly and their kids too! One of the biggest reasons we love and trust A Better Way to Board is how consistently they go above and beyond. The first Thanksgiving we had Fiona, we were heartbroken when our airline wouldn't let her on the plane with us last minute. We were in full panic mode, but Dan and Holly didn’t hesitate—they said yes to watching her with literally no notice. That moment sealed it for us: they’re family now. Fiona always comes home happy, tired, and clearly loved. We wouldn’t trust anyone else with her care. If you're looking for a boarding and training experience that’s safe, supportive, and truly special, look no further than A Better Way to Board. They’re simply the best.
Dan was amazing with our shy puppy Lenny! He really came out of his shell, started playing well with other dogs, learned a lot, and even calmed down a bit. I feel so much better leaving him with Dan than at a big corporate boarding place, and I love that he and Holly send us photos and videos while we’re gone. Highly recommend!
A Better Way to Board is a gem for dog owners! Dan and Holly board and train dogs from their home, providing a level of personal attention and care you won’t find elsewhere. Dan is an outstanding trainer who tailors the training to each dog's unique needs. Holly shares regular updates with charming videos and photos which illustrate the care they provide. They even sent one for Easter! When we picked up Zoey she was happy, healthy, and definitely better-behaved. If you're looking for a personal boarding and training experience, A Better Way to Board is an excellent perfect choice. I highly recommend them.
Dan has been a gift to our dog and her training process! Having had dogs my whole life, it was so great to see the benefits of the standard training we have done with our other dogs versus the training that Ruthie had with Dan. She is well behaved and more importantly, the most social and happy dog that we have had, for which I credit the work Dan has done with her since she was a puppy. My dog LOVES going to stay with Dan and his whole family, and it gives such peace of mind that she is so well taken care of when I am away. I love getting picture and video updates that Dan and Holly send, and am always reassured that she is at her “home away from home” while I am away.
