Blakeney Entrance, Copperfield Nature Trails

Wow went for a walk thru here took my dogs right at sunset. I had no idea this little spot was hidden right off IH-35. Me my son and my wife walked thru this trail with our dogs all around the two little ponds there. Fish were jumping I was wishing I had my poles with me.

This is a rugged trail that snakes around the backwoods behind homes. Portions are smooth with mulch and gravel while other areas are bare ground, resembling a game trail vs. a nicely groomed and maintained city trail. Great area for dogs as there are plenty of scents and sounds to draw their attention. There is a playground for children at the end of one branch. The trail also has a small pond and a couple of benches along the smoother and more maintained areas. The trail is not mobility friendly beyond the initial entrance. It's definitely worth a better exploration.

Neighborhood trail system is a great little hike with you and your pets.

Excellent walking trail system maintained largely by neighborhood volunteers. Occasionally decent for birding on spring mornings when warbler flocks come through; by afternoon it is invariably too crowded and the birds will have dispersed. Much better for wildflower photos than birding, honestly. People also need to remember to clean up after their dogs and not to leave any fishing line behind. Parking can get crowded fast; note that this and Copperfield Park proper (the northern end of the greenbelt at Yager Lane) are the only places with parking spots available. If there's no spots available, it's too crowded, don't bother.

Quiet and peaceful park that's hidden. I only wish people would pick up after their dog because it's becoming a nuisance trying not to walk on poop every few steps.
