(from Google)It's a fun trail with a fairly steep incline that does involve some scrabbling. The route is not clearly marked. There are assume arrows and other rock art along the way so follow that as best as you can. The cave itself is covered in graffiti, rope and had some fun tchotchkis in there along with a few swings. It would be a nice place to hang out with a book, some sandwiches and a cold lemonade. There is no shade on the trail so be aware of weather, temperature and wind. Bring plenty of water, a hiking pole of you have one, gloves if needed and a hat. Please pack in pack out.
This is a no nonsense trail that climbs steeply from the parking area for lofty views of Simi Valley, with numerous rocks and caves along the way. Some wildflowers, numerous birds and lizards. Traffic noise from the freeway on certain parts of the trail (hence the 4 rating). Otherwise, an interesting trail.
This place offers some stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. There is ample parking available but, it is important to note that the trail can get quite crowded on weekends, so it is best to arrive early to secure a parking spot. As we(my friends and I) continued along the trail, we were delighted to see birds, each one singing its own unique melody. The sweet sound of their chirping was like music to our ears, and we couldn't help but feel a deep sense of peace and contentment. Overall this is a beautiful hiking trail that offers stunning views, peaceful waterfalls, and an abundance of wildlife. The trail is moderate, with a relatively steep uphill climb, but it's well worth the effort. You'll hear the sweet sounds of birds and the tranquil music of waterfalls, and you'll be surrounded by lush greenery and majestic mountains.
Great and challenging hike. It took awhile to find as a first timer. There were arrows painted on rocks that zigzag through brush and boulders making it more challenging. The arrows then stopped or were painted over. Not sure if they were there to help. It felt more like someone was doing it to get you lost. There are two ways up. One is a long way and the other is about half. Warning: there are wildlife sightings - mountain lions, snakes, etc.
The Hummingbird Trail is a nice trail to hike or mountain bike in Rocky Peak Park, but it is fairly steep and can be challenging. There is no shade so best to hike in the cooler months and in the morning or late afternoon. The views are nice as you hike up the hillsides and get better the higher you go. Worth hiking if visiting Rocky Peak Park.
