Larus Park Trailhead, North

Trailhead in neighborhood, not much parking. Wouldn't come after rain or snow, pretty muddy and icy in certain parts. However, on a warmer day, I would try walking around again.

Do not use the north entrance. Parking for two, maybe three vehicles. Neighborhood entrance to the park. Do get to the main park you will go under the Chippenham Pkwy culvert.

I selfishly don't want to rate Larus well because I want to keep it a secret its so good! Trail system with multiple trail heads. Trails are a little more advanced, certainly be cautious of your footing. Its a true trail with some water crossings on rocks. Maintained amazingly. Good markers and directions. Each trail head has about 3 - 5 parking spaces, so be mindful. Only downside I would say is a lot (most) people are completely off leash with their dogs, trained and untrained. So if you want to bring your dog and think it will be nice, it 100% will not be. Haven't gone once yet without a bad off leash run in.

A lovely 104 acre park near Huguenot and the river. In the autumn, the fall color was spectacular! There is a small, charming creek that runs through the park with trails that loop around. We saw lots of interesting fungi and plants on our hike. I would allow up to an hour and a half.

Hidden among the other more well known park systems like belle isle. This is easily my favorite. Medium and short hikes are available through wooded hills filled with fiddle head ferns in spring. A rocky creek runs through part of the trails great for pictures or relaxing. There are benches to sit on throughout the trails. Very scenic and secluded.
