Hendricks Park

Great park to to walk among the rhododendrons and azaleas and oak trees... Parking is a little tight. Go in in mid-April to mid-May.

This park is lovely! Lots of dog walkers, hikers, bikers and others just hanging out in their vehicles. Local neighbors walking around and even the postal worker pulled over for her break. Saw people walking the trails and the road throughout. The park butts up to a neighborhood so I did see/hear leaf blowers and traffic but the park is well loved and I found no trash on the ground during my visit. The ONLY reason I didn’t give 5 stars was the drive TO the park is full of lush and beautiful trees that will whack and scratch higher clearance vehicles on the narrow road Google Maps brought me up on during the fall. I think by the spring/summer I wouldn’t want to risk the drive up with additional tree growth. Lovely area though and I enjoyed my visit. Side bar: I had NO issues but I do wonder if they had issues in the past with car break-ins, I saw a couple of reminders to lock doors and remove valuables. 🤷‍♀️

This place always inspires a leisurely walk. It’s a perfect spot for strolling with dogs and ideal for a picnic as well. While it’s a bit disappointing that dogs aren’t allowed in the garden area, the rest of the park—including the short trail—is absolutely wonderful.

Without a doubt, this place is absolutely gorgeous and worth making it the focus of your day out. The plants and trees are stunning, the grounds and paths are immaculately and peaceful.

Hendrick's park is a lovely place to go for a walk or bike ride. In springtime, the rhododendrons and azaleas are in full bloom, with lovely pops of color around each bend in the path. It's a peaceful, forested respite above the city.
