Even with it being overpriced when they did nothing except state the obvious ("she has nose wrinkles like the breed does" still wondering the reason for that, the concern wasn't anything to do with that) I don't think I would be writing this review if it wasn't for the fact that I really hope they work on their miscommunication issues. We called to ask if they have the equipment to do a rinoscopy/deep removal of a foxtail far into inside the nasal passage if that's what my English Bulldog needed, front desk told us yes. We drove the long drive to SLC and waited 3 hours just for the vet to end up telling us that they don't have the equipment and us having to pay $150 for that information that should have been able to be given upfront when we asked. Everyone was fairly friendly or at least not rude (they're very busy and probably struggling not to burn out, so I'm not expecting a lot of the same empathy and friendly comfort we get from the vet offices I use regularly who while I'm sure still have their own burn out, an emergency vet is a lot on anyone working there I'm sure), so they've definitely improved in that area since I was here last. I imagine the medical staff is probably better for other emergencies now than they were when we first ever came here - with a different dog, a French Bulldog, who was having seizure or stroke like symptoms nonstop that we spent much more money on just for them to have told us they couldn't actually treat or do anything for her, just pushed us to do scans and bloodwork and stuff that would have costed over $1,000 for them to just not do anything about it which would have been more understandable if the same miscommunication hadn't happened on the phone in this case, too, and they weren't pushing for things that weren't very helpful if they couldn't even give her temporary medication to assist her until her proper vet appointment and could have been a little more sympathetic the way they treated us, I chalk it up to them being busy but it still didn't help the situation. Primarily, miscommunication is the big issue here. I would recommend finding another if you're relying on information they're giving you over the phone beforehand. Especially if you need to make a long drive and risk wasting precious time for some situations, and money for those struggling financially who may not be able to afford bouncing around different emergency vets and such. In case anyone is wondering, my English Bulldog is okay! Not an emergency vet, but as it was too late at night at MedVet to make an appointment elsewhere we called the morning after with Bayview Animal Hospital who got us in the day right after that so the foxtail has been removed and they treated us exceptionally kindly.

I came in and my kitty was in critical condition. Immediately a staff member had her cage open and was running to help her within minutes of walking in. My sweet cat I've had my entire adult life was having neurological issues after a suspected seizure. Maddie, the vet was so incredibly empathetic and helped me make the difficult choice to humanly euthanize my dear, sweet, Lucy. I lost a little piece of my entire world today. But the team here made it so beautiful and helped me every step. There was nothing that could be done for my cat and I didn't want her to suffer any further. Ali was also amazing at helping me get some keepsakes and I decided to bury her at home and when she brought Lucy back to me she was delivered in the most beautiful manner I've ever experienced. We received some fur and whiskers along with paw and nose prints. We may not have been able to save Lucy but I'm glad I brought her here for her final moments. I got to love her for 4,536 days and I'll miss her for even longer. Again, I can not thank you girls enough. ♡

I recently moved to SLC and my cat had a urinary blockage upon arrival. Medvet was willing to see him immediately and they have been extremely thorough with their care. They have provided me with twice daily updates on my boy and are helpful and understanding with all my questions. Dr. Dawson especially has been so knowledgeable and empathetic. They even let me visit with my boy multiple times even though they were crazy busy. I will be returning for all urgent vet needs in the future!!

Medvet has been an incredibly professional and supportive organization as we have been treating our 7 year old Golden for Osteosarcoma. Dr. Wright and the entire oncology staff as well as the general Doctor staff have been patient and informative throughout the entire process. Highly recommend. For any potential pup parents looking at MedVet - I should also add that they are providers of a new trial immunology for some cancers called the Yale Vaccine which - so far - has shown impressive results not just for our pup but across broader published data in trials across the country. Ask about it!

Dr. Grint, Krystalynn, and Morgan made up the cardiac team that took care of our sweet dog. The entire time he was in their care we felt so confident that we were getting the best treatment plan for our guy. They were incredibly sensitive to his anxious needs and made sure to explain everything to us thoroughly. We can’t recommend them enough. We also had an experience with the emergency department. We were impressed with their communication and quality of care. Overall, we greatly appreciated the support we received from the excellent providers at MedVet SLC.
