(from Google)From day one, Hugo brought an exceptional level of professionalism, expertise, and genuine care that truly sets him apart. He doesn’t just train dogs — he understands them, connects with them, and empowers owners with the tools to continue success at home. Our dog is not only better behaved, but happier, more confident, and more connected to us as a family. Hugo takes the time to explain the “why” behind the training, which made a huge difference in how we reinforce everything day-to-day. His patience, consistency, and passion for what he does are unmatched. We’re beyond grateful for his partnership and couldn’t recommend him more highly. Thank you, Hugo, for treating our dog like family!
Before we started working with Hugo, we were completely overwhelmed. Our Bruno a giant schnauzer was struggling with aggressive leash pulling and severe separation anxiety. Simple walks felt impossible, and we were constantly stressed out about having guests over. From day one, Hugo was incredible. He didn't just teach the dog he taught us. His approach is deeply knowledgeable and rooted in positive reinforcement, which made the training effective and actually fun. Bruno is literally a different dog more joyful happy not needing to worry about having him on a leash anymore is literally the best thing that has happened 🤍
I am 64yr old disabled, single woman that needed a dog not only for companionship but for protection. I decided to get a pitbull. I tried a few trainers with no success and truthfully I did not have the money to keep spending on trainers that I felt weren’t helping me. I was referred to Hugo by a friend, I met with him initially to hear about his training methods and most importantly to see how my dog reacted towards him (dogs have a sense that doesn’t fail them) my dog was curious at first but shortly after, warmed up to him. Hugo wanted to make me feel comfortable letting him train my dog that he made multiple visits before I officially signed him up to train. I would periodically stop by, not going inside because I didn’t want to interrupt his session and never once did I see Hugo abuse any dog. It is disheartening to hear the lies spread about him. My dog loves him, he immediately runs to enter his facility. He wags his tail when he sees Hugo. If there was any form of abuse going on, not just my dog but any dog he’s trained would show signs. My brownie baby learned so much, he loves going on park walks, Hugo picks him up from time to time because due to my disability some days are harder to get out of bed, while I do walk her in the park when I can, he does me that favor which I’m extremely grateful for. As an older woman with nothing to gain, I ask that anyone that is posting those horrible things about him to please judge him based on your own experience. Even if you just do a meet and greet. Hugo, thank you for your services, Brownie loves you and I hope to be able to have you a part of his life for a long time.
We have had Hugo training our cane corso since July and I can't tell you the world of difference we see in our dog. We interviewed with countless trainers and had sessions after sessions and literally felt hopeless because we didn't see results. It was money down train and she was just getting older with no training structure at all. After meeting with Hugo (who was our last resort) we saw a difference, a difference like we hadn't seen with previous trainers. He gave us his word that he would help us and he did not disappoint!! Our girl is thriving, listening, not pulling and most importantly, she has structure! the progress we’ve seen is amazing and most definitely relieving. We can't thank him enough for keeping his word and we look forward to continuing our training. Lastly, our girl absolutely loves him!!!
Review for Tanattus Dog Training School, Bloomfield NJ I cannot say enough good things about Hugo and Tanattus Dog Training School. From the moment we spoke with him, it was clear Hugo was not your average dog trainer. Our Italian Greyhound, who just turned two, presented a number of challenges that many trainers simply weren’t willing to take on. He wasn’t food or toy motivated, had multiple allergies, and was starting to show signs of dominant behavior, especially around other dogs. For a small 14-pound dog with no protective fur, we knew this combination of behavioral and health challenges could easily put him at risk. We were particularly concerned about his lack of recall and his intense drive to run toward other dogs and animals at parks. These were not small issues. Off-leash time felt unsafe, and even on-leash walks could be stressful due to how head-on and off-putting his approach was with other dogs. Hugo took all of this in stride. We enrolled in an intensive eight-week program, seven days a week with no days off. Hugo trained our dog even on holidays like Easter, showing a level of dedication and professionalism that is increasingly rare. Each day, our pup was with him for seven hours on weekdays and around three to five hours on weekends. It was clear Hugo was putting in the time, care, and expertise needed to understand our dog as an individual and not applying a one-size-fits-all approach. The results have been remarkable. Our dog’s recall has improved immensely. I now feel confident letting him off leash in controlled settings, which is something I never thought I’d be able to say. His fixation on other dogs has decreased significantly, and his social interactions are more appropriate and manageable. Walks at the park are no longer tense or unpredictable. They are enjoyable. As an owner, the peace of mind this training has brought me is priceless. I feel safer, more in control, and truly relieved to see our pup more balanced and responsive. Every concern we brought to Hugo, he addressed. Every behavior we wanted to improve, we have seen progress. And knowing our dog was in the hands of someone who understood the unique needs of his breed and temperament gave us confidence from the start. If you are dealing with a tough case or just want a dog trainer who genuinely cares and knows what they are doing, I cannot recommend Hugo and Tanattus Dog Training School enough. He is not intimidated by challenges. He embraces them. His school, located at 412 Broad Street in Bloomfield NJ, is a hidden gem for dog owners who need real, effective, and compassionate training. Thank you Hugo for your dedication, your skill, and the peace of mind you have given us.
