The Lantern

If anyone remembers the old gal‘s station house, the lantern is the third incarnation of what was there after the Fire devastated Gus many years ago it went through a couple of changes and I’m happy to report that the food here is very good and reasonably priced across the board, they have a wonderful fish and chips product, which is made with a fish called BASSA. It’s in the catfish family and I’ll tell you it’s better than cod but speaking of cod my friend had a wonderful cod sandwich with a nice toasted salad and I had a wonderful brisket sandwich tonight smoked thinly sliced red coleslaw provolone cheese melted to keep it all together and a very soft tasty brioche bun with good fries basically $20 a person so very reasonable nice craft cocktails plenty of good sports on the TV and Draft beer selection is nice too very reasonable as I said and a solid choice for family and friends

The menu was wide-ranging and the food was fine, but the service was lacking. I had a question about the actual kind of mixed greens that were offered (I cannot eat spinach), which my server couldn’t answer. He brought over the woman in charge, who gave me a somewhat vague though sufficient answer. But with attitude. Apparently she couldn’t wait to return to the bar, sit down, and hang out with her phone. The server never stopped by my table to check on me. The place was almost empty, and it doesn’t take much to make a customer feel valued. I didn’t.

Stop here for lunch. The staff was friendly, there was plenty of sitting. I had the brisket burger which was delicious. I would recommend this

My coworkers and I visited The Lantern for happy hour on a Tuesday: it’s a cozy restaurant and bar and was relatively busy for a Tuesday evening. They have happy hour deals on cocktails/well drinks, beer, wine and select food. I got the Moscow mule (which you usually don’t see on happy hour menus) and the hot honey and salami pizza! The pizza was $10 but the quantity was fantastic, it came with around 8 square slices and lasted to the next day. Love the deal and the atmosphere!

Amazing atmosphere. Sitting outside enjoying the town while tasting some good food is one of the perks you get here. Food is really good. Classic American cuisine. They do have some buns but for me they are actually tiny burgers (they were tasty though). The place gets really busy so try to get there earlier.
