(from Google)Im giving it 5 stars for everything except being in the water. This beach/water can be extremely dangerous even if you are an excellent swimmer. Im pretty sure we went on a high tide and rough conditions day but the waves were incredibly high, powerful and dangerous. I didnt think it was that bad because there were tons of people in the water kids, old people, young adults ect. It was hard to get in the rocks are smooth and slick. The waves will roll you and suck you out if you arent careful. Its gorgeous there though! Absolutely incredible. Just be safe! I snorkled a little and saw some cool fish but I was scared of drowning so I ended up getting out. Nice spot to hang though! The pics just dont do it justice in either way.
Loved it here! The entrance to the cove breaks the waves perfectly to allow for some fun swimming. We explored the rocks, sunbathed, had some great pizza empanadas from the local food trucks, and enjoyed the shade of the palm trees.
Cool beach and worth the drive. Through a blanket down, chill and relax. Drink Vendors were there in the parking lot. We tried “chains” and he was cool and a good story teller. You’ll notice his stand, he’s got the old truck with the tent cover, The drinks were ok but I’d probably try another vendor next time we visit. Family friendly area also Watch the rocks when entering the water, they’re smooth and slick
Mar Chiquita Beach is absolutely stunning. The curved rock formations create a natural cove that looks almost unreal, and the contrast between the turquoise water, dark rocks, and soft sand makes it incredibly photogenic. The sand was soft and clean, perfect for relaxing or walking along the shore. That said, the waves were treacherous. Water surges powerfully through the rock openings, creating strong currents and sudden wave crashes. This is not a safe swimming beach unless conditions are very calm and you’re experienced in the ocean. There are no facilities, so bring water, sunscreen, and good shoes for the rocky areas. Parking is limited but manageable. Overall, this is a breathtaking spot best enjoyed for the views, photos, and atmosphere—just be sure to respect the power of the ocean.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely stunning — our favorite beach in Puerto Rico! We visited Mar Chiquita Beach in Tierras Nuevas Poniente, Manatí to celebrate Kim’s birthday, and it was absolutely perfect. The drive from our VRBO in the Carolina area took about 45 minutes and was completely worth it. The winding road and the view as we crested the last hill down toward the beach were breathtaking. Parking is free (though sandy), and even on a Tuesday in the off-season, a few food trucks were open. We brought our own food and drinks and immediately wished we’d brought snorkel gear — the moment we saw the crystal-clear water inside the seashell-shaped bay, we knew it was a snorkeler’s paradise. The bay is surrounded by towering, jagged reef cliffs, creating a sheltered, magical lagoon. We found a shaded spot on the far side where we could easily access the water but still enjoy both sun and shade. The water was refreshingly cool, not too warm, and the waves were big but gentle. Inside the reef, we spotted lots of colorful fish, sea urchins, and chitons, plus crabs and anoles along the rocks. We even watched a hawk swoop down to catch a fish — a total National Geographic moment! My drone footage from here was incredible — the turquoise water against the golden cliffs is unreal. Even as the day got busier, we never felt crowded. One couple’s barking dog broke the peace for a bit, but they didn’t stay long. Unfortunately, we did notice some litter despite plenty of trash bins, which is disappointing. Before we left, we explored the cool caves near the exit — a must-see if you visit! We even had to tie up our cooler after a friendly stray dog tried to snag a snack (probably feeding puppies nearby). This beach is safe for swimming — no rip currents, calm surf inside the cove, and incredible scenery. It was our favorite beach of the entire trip, hands down. If you’re visiting Puerto Rico, make a day of it here — you won’t regret it. 🌊🐠☀️
