Theresa is truly amazing — the only person I trust with my dogs. She has been grooming Cricket since she was a puppy and played such a huge role in getting her comfortable with the entire process. Because of Theresa’s patience, kindness, and skill, Cricket is now completely calm and confident during her baths and blow-drying. You can tell she genuinely cares about the dogs she works with. She takes her time, builds trust, and makes the experience positive instead of stressful. It’s such a relief knowing my dogs are not only beautifully groomed but also treated with love and respect. I wouldn’t take them anywhere else. Highly, highly recommend Theresa!

Kimi is seriously the best! She always takes the time to ask exactly what you want and absolutely nails the look every time. I love that she grooms one on one because it keeps my girls calm and stress free. They’re always so happy and excited to see her when we arrive. They come home smelling amazing and feeling SO soft. Couldn’t recommend her more!

Highly recommend. We have had issues with our doodles and since they have attended What A Canine they have transformed. Dedicated people who listen and observe to find solutions for your unique dog and person. Anthony has been amazing in helping us understand our dogs and their needs. We now go weekly for Academy!

My boy is reactive when he knows there is another dog. He would forget I exist and all previous training went out the window. I needed help to redirect him. Anthony was great w him. His techniques worked effectively on my stubborn canine. I’m working on repetition and see the progress already. It’s all about being patient w him which I wasn’t. Anthony was super patient w him.

I stumbled on What-A-Canine just as I was once again thinking about getting a service dog for my social anxiety issues. Something I considered many times before but had always been a little afraid of for the same social reasons. Talking with Anthony helped a great deal, and his full-service offerings were beneficial. He spent weeks/months looking for the right breeder to meet my needs, not just going with the first one. Several breeders we looked at were rejected by Anthony after further research, until he found one that was just right. Then he took time to go out and test the puppies' temperaments till we found the one that would matter to me well. We started training as soon as I got my puppy, and with a lot of hard work and time, I now have a dog that is the envy of many I meet. Anthony uses a mostly no-treat system, relying more on praise and pets for the training. I have continued to be very happy with everything Anthony and his team have done, even when hit blocks and some harder training don't seem to take, he stops and things and adjusts methods to meet the dog. He is also honest and not afraid to tell what is and is not possible. Some dogs are good at some tasks, and some are not, and I appreciate the honest, direct approach. Further, it is no exaggeration to say that working with the team and What-a-Canine often feels more like family. I always feel so very welcome. Private training was not just the basics; it included things like grooming care as a puppy to get the puppy used to being handled, and also taking him out to parks and stores, working off leash in the malls, and going up and down escalators, things that I would never have imagined doing in the past. Group classes have continued to be a joy to attend, meeting lots of great people and providing dogs with socialization and interactions, as well as basic and advanced obedience.
