(from Google)In July, I adopted Supai, a truly feral puppy who had never lived inside a home. She was wild, unsure, and overwhelmed by everything around her. I honestly didn’t know if she would ever be able to live comfortably in a household setting. Our veterinarian referred us to Carlos because Supai needed both behavioral and obedience training, and that referral changed everything. We started with puppy training, and the difference was immediate. Supai began to understand structure, trust, and communication in a way I didn’t think was possible so quickly. When she turned six months old, we moved forward with the three-week board and train. I am not exaggerating when I say I picked up a completely different dog than the one I dropped off. Today, I’m comfortable taking Supai anywhere. Even more importantly, I’m confident welcoming people into my home knowing she will greet them calmly and respectfully, something I never thought I’d say just months ago. We also have a small dog, Cooper, who was not thrilled when Supai joined our family. They were constantly fighting, and it was stressful for everyone. Carlos recommended I drop them off together for a few days. Somehow, and I still don’t know how, he worked a miracle. They now genuinely love each other. As a bonus, I learned something unexpected during training: I had been overfeeding Cooper. He was overweight when I dropped him off. Carlos showed me simple adjustments and training exercises, and Cooper lost three pounds while practicing obedience. We just had a vet appointment, and he is officially no longer overweight. If you’re on the fence, do it. You will not regret it. Carlos didn’t just train Supai, he trained me. And that has made all the difference.
Owner/lead trainer Carlos K. took on my anxious 2 yr old ridgeback-lab mix (Bear). He managed to effectively train Bear to be comfortable with being uncomfortable, redirect his reactivity in a positive way and be very responsive to commands. I cannot stress enough how much Bear and my quality of life has improved now that I can have him around other animals without worrying that he will make a reactive choice. Carlos answering my myriad questions professionally and passionately. Carlos even taught me simple protocols to keep Bear progressing with overcoming his anxiety without medication. I cannot express my gratitude to the Utah K9 academy for their excellent work. They have amazing pricing that far exceeds the product you get. If you have a dog that needs anything from basic obedience to loose lead walking to socialization, I highly recommend Utah K9 Academy.
Can’t say enough great things about Carlos and his knowledge of training all breeds, sizes, and temperaments of dogs! We are a family of 6, were completely new to having a family pet and very lost when it came to where to even start with training our brand new pup! We started with Puppy Boot Camp to help our pup (and us) learn the basics… kennel training, sit, stay, place, socialization with the pack, heel, confidence and leash pressure. When Howie was a bit older we brought him back for a 3 week board and train. Carlos fine-tuned all of the basic skills Howie learned as a pup then continued to build on those! We brought our dog home with manners that other people noticed enough to comment on, awesome recall, and the confidence & ability to walk him off leash with an e-collar! I was nervous to use the e-collar at first but now it is one of my favorite things! Not only did Howie get trained, but Carlos was VERY patient with bringing our whole family in multiple times during the course of the board & train to also train the humans! He made sure we each felt comfortable & confident in communicating with our dog and help us learn what the dog was learning! This built confidence in our young kids as well, to be able to feel part of his training! I love being out and about and have people comment on our well-behaved pup and we give lots of credit to our awesome trainer! Definitely worth what we paid.
Not gunna lie, when my wife talked about training our new dog and the cost associated with it, I was hesitant and skeptical. I can confidently say after having multiple untrained dogs as a kid that this experience was worth every penny. Carlos was great to work with and I can’t count how many times we’ve gotten compliments on our well behaved dog. Having a dog that actually does what we ask when we ask is a completely different experience. We have referred a number of people to Carlos and every one of them have been happy with the results. He also helped train our kids how to handle our dog as much as he trained our dog himself. If you’re debating, do it. His boarding services have also been amazing and allowed our family to enjoy vacations knowing our dog is being taken care of by someone who genuinely enjoys his job and loves dogs.
Rocco is a mini poodle who we got along with his brother at about five months. He had littermate syndrome and was impossible to work with he played keep away and was all over our house Had barking issues and no recall. He spent a lot of time with Carlos at Utah K9 Academy Which was a larger investment on our part, but it was worth every penny. There’s no way we could have corrected his behavioral issues given our busy schedule and our young kids. When we picked him up two days ago from training, he had become a perfect gentleman. He is perfectly behaved in the house has perfect recall and No issues being off leash. The amount of attention and effort Carlos has given to training him has been amazing and we are so so appreciative.
