(from Google)Great bike path! It is paved and well maintained. Beautiful scenery, we loved it. All biker were very respectful. There is a restaurant on the path “La Lanterna” which looks super nice. We were not able to try it because they had a private party. But we will come back.
Biked 13 miles north, and back down- took about 1.5-2 hours total! Beautiful, well paved (except some tree roots pushing up the pavement in some areas), easy route because it was so flat. There’s a porta-potty around mile 6/7 in a small parking lot. Highly recommend. Would definitely do it again since this route is easily accessible from the subway.
Beautiful trail that runs the length of Van Cortland Park! Paved, flat, great for a walk or a run. Enough foot traffic on weekends to feel safe walking solo. Connects to Westchester county parks once you leave the Bronx
The Putnam Greenway trailhead can be found at the northern edge of Van Cortlandt Park where it connects to the South County Trailway that runs through Westchester. The Putnam Greenway spans the length of Van Cortlandt Park and is part of a former spur of the New York Central Railroad. Nowadays, it is a paved pathway used for walking, running, and cycling.
Great walk along the old railroad with many signs of spring
