(from Google)Beautiful park! I love walking my dog here. There’s a horse trail as well. Plenty of fishing spots and boat launches. Nice play ground for the kids.
A really beautiful, quiet and peaceful park with many water views. I would like to see more shore fishing access. More picnic areas. I know it's a balance between maintaining a natural setting and public amenities.
Lone Star Park is an absolute gem! The scenery is breathtaking, with picturesque views at every turn. It’s incredibly peaceful, making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The park offers plenty of well-maintained trails that are ideal for both leisurely walks and more adventurous hikes. The abundance of wildlife adds an extra layer of charm. Whether you’re a nature lover or just looking for a serene place to unwind, Lone Star Park is a must-visit. Five stars all the way!
Lone star lakes Parks is a fantastic place to go and visit in the Suffolk Virginia area. There are biking trails that are quite varied and extensive. There are trails where you can jog on a nice very path. You can also find just a lot of flat surface if you prefer that to slight inclines. There is a lot of places to launch boats I guess mostly canoes. There is a ton of fishing they're actually number of lakes that are all joined together in this area. Oh and there is a playground and the area, there are restrooms, and there are picnic tables spread throughout every area that I want to.
My rating is based on trying to find a park with good trails. I thought I read on their website to only park in designated areas but I drove the whole loop and there was no parking lot, but found people were just parked along the street or some of the gravel paths near some of the lakes. Along the loop it's really not clear either on where the trails are located. After driving the loop we stopped and took a pic of the map so we can figure out the areas we could walk. There are a few paths, but it would be great if each path listed their total distance. We chose to take the Wildlife Habitat (WH) trail and planned to take the connecting path to the Archery Trail, but there are no signs leading you to that path. There are random openings along the WH path that just take you back to the same loop. I then thought if we went to one of the lakes we could just walk along one of the lakes. We stopped at a few lakes, there is no path to walk along the lakes. I think the park would be great if you are fishing. Some of the lake signs signified what type of fish you could catch there. Also if you just want to take a kayak or paddle board out on flat water, there are several options there. Thinking we were missing something, we drove to the side of the park that had the horse trail. There we found the playground, but it is damaged and unfortunately, still accessible.
