(from Google)Really disappointing experience. I arrived at the shelter, completed the adoption paperwork, and was ready to adopt. Staff repeatedly said adoptions are “first come, first serve,” and I was physically there before any rescue commitment was mentioned. After everything was done, I was suddenly told the dog was “pending pick up” by a rescue. It took less than 15 minutes from the time I arrived for this to happen, and the supervisor even made special arrangements for the rescue despite the stated policy. If the policy is truly first come, first serve, it should be applied consistently. It’s very discouraging for people who show up ready to give a dog a home, complete the paperwork, and are still turned away. I’m sure the supervisor knew the rescue cause it was so sudden. I called before I arrived and they said he was still available. Now he’s with a rescue and place with a foster.
Like all on shelters this place is overcrowded and underfunded, but they really truly try to save every animal they can by working with rescue partners. They gave us a lot of leeway when we pulled this boy to transport to save his life. It took us an extra day to get the right vehicle.
Bad service! Lady is rude! She say it need to be Cat Rescue on website but it say here their local. It not make sense. I try give my cat an adopt! She boring conversation and deaf by write!
We adopted our best friend here 4/19/2014. I just want you to know Max has lived a great life. He is slowing down now as he’s almost 12 and he’s traveled all over the U.S. with us.
I got my dog Marcus from this shelter in 2019. Marcus travelled from California to Victoria in Canada and has been the sweetest and kindest dog I have ever encountered. Thank you for everyone here that helped Marcus get to where he is. Much love, Jacqueline Parra
