(from Google)This is a good track, though pretty boring. The path is hard-packed sand and gravel and makes for decent footing. I can't imagine anyone feeling unsafe here. If you're looking for solitude though, this place isn't it. Loud road, really no privacy. I estimate the distance at between 2 and 3 miles. People were riding horses, which was cool, but watch out for large droppings. I also didn't notice a bathroom, but maybe one of the other parking lots had one.
Hadley Valley is a beautiful preserve. Vast open space, that's especially scenic from the top the valley, near the other Gougar Road entrance The segment of the trail near this access point has considerable more road noise than the segment near Gougar Road, but it's still a beautiful and a great place for a walk.
Beautiful Valley, easy to walk, spectacular sunrises.
I live near it. Some decent and OK people come here, compared to family friendly area where I live, more joggers, walkers. There are some people that are trying to get their exercise, so it is nice to look at/see. If you have a lot on your mind or feel you need to get your mind off things, I could recommend it for about half the way completing the distance. It is nice to see people here in the mornings, I would like to admit. The people that come here are about OK and decent. If you are there when the sun goes down, it is a little mesmerizing, I can admit. Good place if you plan to get your mind right and see some OK people along the way. Theres a recent gas station around the corner. Seeing the American flag is nice a few times, if it is your thing, or are memorable, which is next to the sign letting drivers know they are entering Joliet. The police presence is pretty strong in the station, about a quarter or about half the time I go there, theres police cars or officers there, so I could say its a safe area, though it can be a penetrating experience which I felt over the years(so far). I come here about 1 to 4 times a month. I say its a little old after about 10 minutes, but thats if you dont have much to do or look for. There is an incline that is a little difficult on the bike on the far right, but its not impossible. I say this trail and area is good when in the late afternoon when the sun is setting down.
Love the openness of this trail. I felt like I was on vacation. Many different access options to enter for the trails.
