What a person who says this beach is not accessible to the public must mean is that it is not accessible to parking a 7 mile per gallon vehicle and unloading all your food, drink, music and beach furniture straight into the sand to have a dense weekend outing. This beach is perfectly accessible to the solitary walker from either Cassidy St. in O-side (there's also a sketchier entrance further down S. Pacific St.) or, better yet, from Ocean Street, Carlsbad -- from which it is a mind-bending 40 yard hike. I could understand if such misinformation were an attempt to keep the beach local, but it is in fact only connoisseurs who venture north of the creek or south of Cassidy St., while the hoi polloi almost always stay within feet of either entrance, if only because you cannot set up paraphernalia for a beach party on sand that will functionally disappear at each non-negative tide. Also, Saint Malo is on the Atlantic coast of France, in Brittany, not Normandy. Get it together, please. And on that note: I hate the rich as much as anybody, but we could only wish McMansions were on the same level as the architecture in this community.

Had to walk on the train tracks to get past it. Me and my friends decided to walk from the pier to Carlsbad village but it was high tide so the only way from the beach is through this area. The guard would not let us go through so we had to walk on the train tracks in order to get to Carlsbad as the only other option was going back a mile.

There is NO SUCH THING as a "Private Beach" in the great state of California people! If you were unable to access the beach, its because the elitist snobs who own property NEXT TO the beach have blocked access, which is against the law. Report them and raise hell until access is restored. If you need encouragement, look into the Malibu homeowners who were fined $4.2 million for blocking access to our coastline, then walk right through that McMansion, because its your right as a citizen.

It is not accessible to the public-super bummer! Looked awesome on Google maps but Should have had indicated its private community ⛱️ Beach. Especially with gas prices going up!
