South Fork Trail and Blueway Access

The trail is more like a nature preserve that runs along the south fork river. It runs 2 miles each way and takes about two hours. The trail was muddy from the rains last week and some sections were pretty rough. Most of the trail was desolate except for the flights overhead that drown the gentle gurgles of the river. I have seen about 4 people for the entire length. Some sections of the trail are pretty idyllic. I suggest good walking shoes and have company. Some sections are slippery due to the rain and canopy. The river is pretty in its natural habitat. The trail is adjacent to McAdenville, which is known as the Christmas town for its beautiful Christmas decorations.

One of our favorite spots to bring the pups. In my experience it hasn't been busy when I've been there, however, we always run into at least one or two people on the trail. It can be a bit muddy but it's worth it.

0700 Sunday 818/24 2 miles out and back. All shaded with very limited views due to trees and terrain. Saw no one on the trail. Traffic noise from 85 bridge is very loud but I the trail that diminishes only for air traffic noise to take over. I heard a few birds but all the human noise drowned most of that out. Easy walking if that’s all you’re looking for.

nice quiet trail. well worn. you can walk into the river at some points. no trash cans or doggie bags for waste, pretty clean though. trail is historical with a landmark posting at 1 end. safe. easy. i recommend.

Great trail running along South Fork River. Access is near I85 and also is an access point to the blueway. Trail is 2 miles end to end and the northern access point is in a residential neighborhood. Some ruins of an old bridge are asking route. A nice feature also is the presence of emergency location signs to help connect first responders to locations along the trail. Pretty easy hike.
