(from Google)Huge fenced in area for your dog to go full out zoomies mode. The water fountains didn't work and I wasn't prepared for that. Poop stations had bags. The gap under fence is big enough for smaller dogs to sneak out, imo. There's also a paved walking trail through the woods but I didn't do that. If you need a space for your dog to run free (with a boundary), this is a great spot. There are a few metal benches for sitting but it's basically a large fenced in field. I saw a few dried poop piles so not everyone is cleaning up after their dog. The space is so big that if you're not watching and they poop, you could easily miss it.
Clean area. Fence is too high off the ground to safely contain smaller ones.
Huge area for pups to run. No divider for small vs. large drugs. Water stations and clean up bags are located at each end of the park. If you have small drugs that like to escape, you will need to be watchful as there are gaps under the fence they could get under. No dog toys, shade, benches, nor restroom available. The park is located behind apartments/townhouses; however, the park sign indicates it is a public dog park. Parking lot is next to a paved trail thru woods. I would visit again if I’m in the area.
I'm giving it only 3 stars instead of 5 for two reasons: One is that they keep spraying under the powerlines to kill plants instead of mowing it. This blowing away in the wind as tiny particles and killing Spanish Moss in the treeline. The Spanish Moss is sacred for many of us Sweetgum Kriyul people and these forests between Newport News and Yorktown are home to it's Northernmost wild population. This genetically distinct and rare subspecies of Spanish Moss is already under threat, as a hiking trail nearby winding through the woods has more easily opened them up to poachers. The second reason is that this dog park and the nearby new neighborhood was built by cutting down forests on land my tribe used to subsistence and survive off white tailed deer and wild turkey and Trifoliate Oranges and other hardy citrus and pawpaw fruits. Sweetgum Kriyul people have had so much land stolen for White Yankees to move in, this is another land grab!!!!
Great big open place to let your pets run free! Fenced in with multiple gates allowing entry as well as doggy waste bag stations throughout! Located near a nature walking trail.
