(from Google)This is a cozy pub-style bar and our server was super nice, but the food was a terrible disappointment. Ended up here on a busy weekend for date night with my partner when we weren't able to get in anywhere else at the time we wanted. I guess the fact that they were the only place that had openings should have been a red flag. The fish and chips was the biggest hunk of flavorless fish I've ever seen. Usually F&C come as strips or more manageable pieces to get a balance of breading to fish, but not this one. If your only vegetarian dinner option is grilled cheese and tomato soup, you have got to do better than Campbell's and a soggy cheddar loaf. The sandwich itself was huge but lacked flavor and texture. Even the bread pudding was flavorless! Again, it was HUGE but I would have sworn something was wrong with my taste buds had my partner not said the same thing. Too bad because the vibes were there, but food was certainly not.
The Monkey’s Paw is a charming gastropub with a rustic, cozy vibe. The farm-to-table menu offers delicious American fare with fresh, high-quality ingredients that really elevate each dish. The space itself is beautifully designed with exposed brick, old library books, and distressed wood, giving it a warm, inviting feel. Whether you're there for a casual dinner or a special night out, the food and ambiance make it an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy great food in a laid-back, unique setting!
Everything was absolutely perfect! The food was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented, and the cocktails were just as amazing – perfectly balanced and so delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. Our server, Jen, was incredibly sweet, attentive, and genuinely made us feel cared for. She went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, and her warm personality truly added to the evening.
Great gastropub that's surprisingly big on the inside, offering a ton of different cocktails and some tasty food options. We came on a Saturday right when they opened and we were the only people there, sitting in the little nook with a fireplace was nice. Super friendly staff and some good cocktails, we just got an app but we will be back for dinner.
Disappointing Night at The Monkey's Paw Had a bit of a letdown at The Monkey's Paw last night. The service was far from attentive - it felt like we were forgotten about at times. The food itself was just okay, bordering on underwhelming. It seemed like a lot of it might have been pre-made or pre-packaged. We tried a variety of dishes - the wedge salad, Brussels sprouts, fried pickles, and meatballs. None of them were bad, but none were particularly good either. Nothing really stood out or felt fresh-made. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but it definitely wasn't worth returning for. There are so many other great restaurants in Chicago with better service and more exciting food options. I'd skip The Monkey's Paw and try somewhere else.
