Affordable Animal Hospital Silver Lake

I had a very disappointing experience at Affordable Animal Hospital Silver Lake. First of all, the name “Affordable” is very misleading. In my experience, the prices were actually higher than average, and the final bill felt inflated with several items and procedures that did not seem necessary. It gave the strong impression that the clinic is more focused on increasing the bill than on the actual wellbeing of the animals. Instead of recommending only what was truly needed for the pet, it felt like they were trying to add as many charges as possible to make the invoice higher. When we asked questions and decided not to proceed with the full treatment plan the doctor recommended, the attitude changed immediately. The doctor became very closed off and essentially told us that if we didn’t want to pay for everything there, we should go somewhere else to get the medications. There was no effort to work with us, explain alternatives, or help find a reasonable middle ground. A veterinary clinic should care first about the health of the animal and be willing to guide pet owners through different options. Unfortunately, this experience felt far more focused on money than on the wellbeing of the pets.

The staff is super friendly and have tons of information on how to save money and what procedures and specials they have. They are friendly to the owners and animals. My 15 year old Shih Tzu went in for dental surgery and it’s only been 3 days and he is back to his old self. So happy and will continue to take Wyatt here.

The support staff is less than efficient while one is rude and condescending at best. Dr B is knowledgeable but that doesn't make up for inept front staff capability. Making me run 60 miles and 3 visits after arranging appointments requiring changes is totally ridiculous. Good for simple routine issues but not for more advanced issues. Not that "affordable" once additional testing and medications are added.

This place was incredible. I have a 16-year-old Maltese who had a huge mass on her belly. I took her in and they were able to do surgery the same day and gave me an incredible price. She’s fully recovered and extremely happy! they made this so easy and I’m just so grateful that it didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Please check this place out if you’re looking for affordable vet care!

Thank you so much to Dr. Barrera and the surgeon who most likely saved my dog’s life. I was quoted a small fortune from other vets. Affordable animal hospital was able to save me thousands of dollars and most importantly they did an amazing job with my dog. He had a hernia that required major surgery and he’s healing beautifully now! I’m so grateful!
