Hank's Filling Station

Picked up a Reuben and some Mac n cheese while at work. Had to get takeout unfortunately, but the bartender was VERY friendly and helpful. The Reuben was probably the best one I’ve ever had, and the Mac n cheese was delicious! Not too dry, not too watery, just right. And talk about enough cheese! Perfect combo to stimulate your taste buds. 10/10 would recommend for good food and drink selection.

The food was great. The atmosphere is interesting because the setup. This would be a good place to bring friends for a party. They have a large outdoor eating area. If we have a dog you go around back to order and eat with your dog.

When I say I am PICKEY about bbq. I mean I’m PICKEY. This is the best bbq sandwich I’ve had in all of Virginia, and just about every other state I’ve traveled. We first ordered on Uber yesterday. Then I wanted to go back today because I didn’t get enough. The entire family loves the Mac n cheese. My son ate an entire grilled cheese and he is extremely pickey about those. I got my pickles on the side, and eat them as they are. They’re so thin and delicious. I would kill for a jar of them. My partner had the roast beef sandwich and hanks 3 meat Reuben. BOTH were just as good as the bbq. I tried both. I normally don’t eat sauerkraut, and it was good on the sandwich. I don’t think place has a bad item on the menu. We took blueberry cheesecake Togo AND THAT WAS DELICIOUS TOO. STOP IT lol

Nice little area of Norfolk with some interesting places. Hank's is good authentic smoked BBQ. Large portions of everything. My que was not as hot as the beans so maybe check the warming tray. Other than that spot on. Nice outdoor area with fires going for cooler evenings out. Order at the counter and they bring it out to you. Very well stocked bar along with large wine selection. Y'all come out.

Definitely not what I expected walking in…they are dog friendly and provide dog water bowls which is an automatic 3 star review for me. The service,food and atmosphere easily brought it up to 5 stars. They have an awesome outdoor seating area with fire pits, cornhole, ping pong, connect four and a stage. We are a 50 year old couple and went a little early so we didn’t look ridiculous in a college crowd, but the whole place is welcoming of any and all ages.huge selections on tap, can and liquor. We will definitely return.
