(from Google)Beautiful park. South Dakota has fantastic state park facilities. And wonderful nature worth protecting. We camped in the park for 30ish dollars plus park entrance cost 10-15 dollars. The new King campground for RVs and car camping has nice showers and facilities.
The park has been improved greatly, and expanded, since my last visit. The old bridge is out of service for vehicles excluding ATV and motorcycles. So many more camping spots and amenities now. Highly recommend.
This is a small 110 acre State Park with campgrounds and a few cabins. Lots of walking trails. This park has incredible rock formations and is a great stop, although it's more a half day than a full day of walking and exploring. Definately worth the stop if you are in the area.
Visited here in mid-February while visiting South Dakota and had a wonderful time. The massive cliffs were absolutely beautiful and reminded me a lot of Palisade Head where I did wedding photos in Minnesota. One thing I highly recommend is paying online in advance before arriving. There was only one line available for paying with a card in person, and the vehicles ahead of us took quite a while. Cell reception can also get spotty in the area, so paying ahead saves time and avoids the hassle of waiting in line. Be extra careful if visiting during the transition between winter and spring because the trails can become very muddy and slippery. I also wish there had been clearer signage for the trails. We found a parking spot, but then wandered around for a bit trying to figure out where the trail leading to the water actually started. If you bring small dogs, be cautious. We noticed multiple eagles along the water feeding, so I’d definitely recommend keeping pets close on a leash or possibly leaving them at home for safety. Overall, this was a very beautiful area and somewhere I would absolutely visit again. Wish we could've had more time to explore!
Dated on Tuesday, October 7th. It’s my second time being there since three years ago. I took my mom to see this park and took a short hike on King and Queen Trail. She liked this park. It’s really a hidden gem in South Dakota because you drive for a bit after took an entrance that looks like a bland park.
