(from Google)My reactive rescue has come such an incredibly long way, and sometimes I still catch myself feeling amazed at how different our walks feel now. There was a time when stepping outside in the city filled me with anxiety. My dog reacted to rumbling noises, plastic amazon bags dragging along the sidewalk, DoorDash drivers with helmets on, other dogs, kids on scooters, skateboards…everything felt overwhelming for both of us. From the very first virtual consult through scheduling, Instinct East Harlem was thoughtful, organized, and supportive. Sam is an exceptional trainer. The work we did was creative, practical, and effective. We trained in Central Park, at a skate park, and along busy avenues…building skills in the exact environments that once felt impossible. I now understand how to manage my dog’s emotions and reactions with confidence, and we can finally enjoy our time together outside. I’m beyond grateful to Sam and the entire team for transforming not just our walks, but our bond. I will never stop working with Instinct East Harlem, and I can’t recommend them enough.
Megan Coryat is an amazing dog trainer! Before my dogs and I started working with Megan, they would not listen to me, they would not focus on me on our walks, and they were (leash) reactive to other dogs and stimuli. Since we’ve been working with Megan, they are different dogs; they are calmer, are much more responsive to me and are generally happier. Our relationship has improved significantly. Megan gives very clear, concise direction. Each session builds on the one before She also sends videos to help reinforce what she teaches us in our sessions, which are great reference tools. If you’re looking for a great trainer who is also a wonderful person, I highly recommend Megan! Your dogs (and neighbors) will thank you!
Grateful for Instinct Dog Behavior & Training! Highly recommend Megan Coryat! Before training sessions with her, I was anxious taking my dog out for walks. Megan taught me techniques as well as the proper walking gear to use and it has made me much more confident when going on walks. Not only is she personable, she also has a great sense of humor and is not judgmental. She has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to dog training, and I'm grateful for all I've learned.
We’ve been bringing our puppy here for daycare and doing in home training for a couple months, now, and our experience has been great so far! He’s nervous around other dogs, and I feel like they really take the time to match his playmates to his temperament when he’s at daycare. Training has been fantastic, with a really patient handler who makes sure she’s training us as well as the puppy to set him up for success (thanks Mari!). It’s also great it’s in-home so she can see him where he is spending all his time, rather than just a training facility alone. However, we have gone to the puppy alum class for group training and that was also fabulous and added a new layer to help us help our pup socialize, and they were able to tailor the class to every dog’s level, and it was really interactive and focused on social skills. Overall, I’ve been really pleased.
Did the one week board and train program for our 10 month old cavapoo. He has some reactivity issues with large dogs. We totally understood that one week wasn’t going to create a profound impact in our dog, but we were traveling and wanted him to have a good schedule / learn a few more skills while we were away. The trainers here are awesome! We specifically worked with Rebecca and our dog loved her so much. They are so particular about every dogs’ needs, requirements, issues etc and really care about every dog they take in. They taught our dog (and us) some useful skills and we will definitely be using them in the future.
