Kewin Park

Kewin Park is a park that is on both sides of Dry Creek in Modesto and is part of series of parks that follows Dry Creek. It has trails that is great for walking your dog(s) and you can walk for miles. However if your dog(s) has a tendency to chase squirrels, keep a tight grip on your leash as the park is filled with them. There are lots of facilities for various activities from a playground for children, picnic areas with picnic tables. The park is filled with lots of valley oaks and other trees which are great for days when the temperatures are over the low 80s. Also there are places to fish but it depends on the water flow in the creek which can be very low depending on how much it has rained in the current year. It is a pleasant park with lots and lots of space for walking to your hearts content.

Can you even call this a park anymore? Before long the city is going to remove the playground just like they have the picnic tables, they've closed the bathrooms off permanently and removed all the trash cans. For what to deture the homeless population, the problem is they really don't care, only the citizens who use the park do and instead of taking the problem head on the city has taken away slowly the reason it's called a park. So now their is one bench that is always frequented by transients that is right next to the playground. Who would want to take their child to swing on the swing set and stare at the homeless picnic table.

It’s quiet and relaxing if you’re in search of something outside of your residence. Not too far from where I live, so this should be in my weekly hiking list if I’m not feeling like driving too far. A minus point is the creek is nasty and would probably be not something to consider as spending time on, but the trail itself is great.

I enjoyed the beauty and nature. My dog loved it. I saw so many animals and birds it was breath taking. I took some beautiful pics.

Horribly littered and there are homeless encampments everywhere. This park AND all of the adjacent parks along the river have gone downhill in the last couple of years. It's a real disappointment.
