Beaverton Creek Wetlands Natural Area

In the winter this is the Park's best kept secret if you are into viewing the migrating diving ducks. Sometimes the Bald Eagle makes its presence and chaos ensues, frantic ducks scatter across the surface as the Eagle looks at the Menu - lol. Personally I have seen Buffleheads, Ringneck Ducks, Scaup, Common and Hooded Merganser Ducks, Ruddy Back typically rare, saw a long tailed duck here late December 1 day and then it was gone. Pintails, Green Winged Teal, American Widgeon, Mallards, Snowy Egret and the GBH along with Piletate Woodpecker here and there and of course the most famous - BELTED KINGFISHER. I got lucky with a Pileated doing its thing and reducing the bark on a dead tree.

Quiet and peaceful! Right next by the railroad. There's seat to sit on. The trail is a clear path. The pond is super wide yet shallow. Feeding wild animals is illegal.

This place is so cool, saw a Bald Eagle take a duck out of the sky and flew away with its meal. Saw a River Otter today chasing fish, a Great Blue Heron fishing, some Merganser ducks fishing too. Saw a host of diving ducks too….

This place is amazing, and has some wonderful birds. Parking is a little inconvenient - you have to park at the nearby Tualatin reserve lot and hike over, but it's well worth it to see the beaver dam, and all the nesting birds.

The GPS took me to a parking lot of a business park. From here I had walking access to the water and unmarked trails. As I was waiting in my car to hop out, a Blue Heron flew over me and landed about 20 feet from my car! It was so wonderful to bird-watch. So many other birds too, such as Red winged blackbirds, Canada geese and a variety of ducks.
