An absolutely beautiful lake. HOWEVER, there is a massive problem in Connecticut where public bodies of water are completely surrounded by private blocks of property. Basically, it is so hard to access this lake, even though it is the largest lake in Connecticut. I went to like three different spots in three different towns until a man directed me towards a random parking lot that I could park in , and I still had to pay to access the waterrr. Like, at one point, I found a parking lot that was clearly allotted for lake-visitors, but apparently you needed a parking RESERVATION made 24 hours in advance. like???? why is it to hard to just swim?????? Anyway, such soft water and you’re surrounded by an ample amount of trees. I would go again. i just need to find a spot to park because this is insane like why must society profit off of every little ounce of human enjoyment, it’s absurd. let me access the water omg

Awesome lake. Islands everywhere, Echo Bay Marina is fantastic. There are places to jump in everywhere, including a rope swing, tall rock, great for jetskiing.

Candlewood Lake is the perfect destination to cool off on a hot Summer Day with friends or a beautiful fall hike to peep the colorful leaves with your dogs. There are wonderful Lake communities up and down the 60 miles of coastline as well as public boat launches and beaches dotted around the 5 towns that surround it. If you are looking for fishing, boat renting, or eating at Down the Hatch- our Lake has it all!

A beautiful lake in a wooded, mountainous setting. Lake is dammed at the North end. Has long, narrow fingers, some several miles long. Water depths vary, but mirror surrounding terrain, with some very deep sections. Good fishing abounds. Species include largemouth, smallmouth and rock bass, crappie, sunfish, perch and others. Several marinas around the lake. Park and boat ramp access at southern end of lake.
