(from Google)I’ve been searching for a single track experience to take my drop bar gravel bike to, one that is long and flows without too many technical aspects and this fit the bill perfectly. I had a blast. While most use their mountain bikes my gravel bike was more than up to the task. If you have GOOD bike handling skills and only a gravel bike then by all means go do it.
This spot is a great access point for both the single track and the horse trails. A scenic 7-mile loop runs through here, making it a convenient starting point. I especially appreciate the nearby parking and restrooms, which make the visit hassle-free. The trail itself is wide, well-maintained, and enjoyable for a variety of users.
3-1-24 We came around 4pm to hike the multi use trails with our two medium size dogs. Plenty of parking available, paths are plenty wide to walk past others and keep distance incase have pets along. The paths here are endless and all fabulous to hike. Today we hiked about 45 minutes out and that was about 1/4 the way around. We come here regularly and is a great scenic area.
Part of the larger Elm Creek Park Reserve, the singlet track MTB trails are some of the longest in the metro. The trails are well signed and configured in progressive loops so you can go out and ride all day or break off after an hour or two. This is a great trail for beginners looking to build their skills or for more seasoned riders who like to ride fast and flowy. Majority of the trails are under tree cover which keep away the sun but brings the bugs big time. Trail tends to be pretty wide but right now is pretty overgrown and has several trees down from recent storms - watch your head. Technical areas dot the trails but have not been kept up- lots of protruding bolts in the ramps and brush around the rocks. Parking lot can get full quickly on nice weather weekends - be prepared to park off the road and ride to the trailhead.
I only found out about this place last month, but living just six miles away, I've now gone here several times and still find there are more tracks and trails I haven't been on. The singletrack is great, offering neatly placed technical obstacles, some of which are pretty difficult and all appear to have easier ways around them for people who don't want to try, no end to the amazing scenery, neatly carved turns, and all around amazing riding. Two times I'd fallen, but both times other rides stopped to make sure all was well tell me Minnesota Nice is alive and well here too!
