(from Google)Bull Run Occoquan Trail is incredible! Long hike with forests, rivers, and wildlife. Peaceful and quiet—great for clearing your thoughts and staying active. No bears. pump it.
My "go to" trail when I don't feel like to drive far for hiking. It has relatively flat sections and some small strenuous sections. What I don't like most is litter along or near the trail. Photos were from 11/26/2022. Bull Run was at its lowest water levels since I first hiked the trail about 7 years ago.
My rating as a mountain biker: ⭐️ The sign at the trailhead headed west is misleading for mountain bikers. It seems like you can ride on this trail. There is even a picnic area along the trail with a bike stand. However, once you are on the trail headed towards Bull Run Marina, you'll see signs indicating that mountain bikes are not permitted. If the NOVA Parks manager does want mountain bikes on the trail, then you would think that the signs should be posted at the trailhead. 🤷♂️ My rating as a hiker: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The trail is great but the trailhead needs more parking and a restroom.
Read it carefully: 1. Be aware of cyclists as they sometime come faster then expected 2. Don’t visit right after rain or even at the same day 3. Trials is best for summer 4. Follow the trails number as there are multiple line/small trials
A nice gem of Fairfax county . A lot of trails. Great for hiking, mountain biking, scenery watching, fishing(probably). There is a very little parking lot for 5-6 cars. Probably is it acceptable parking along the road. No facilities at all.
