(from Google)Lovely trail with lots of wildlife. It is typically much less crowded than the other parts of Honeymoon Island and thus has a lot of wildlife. Just today I saw several ospreys and tortoises. There is also a direct & short footpath to the beach from thr playground near the trailhead.
Nice little trail offering many views. Got to see turtles, ospreys, their nests and a bald eagle nest that had younglings poking their heads just above the edge (seen w/ binoculars). It was the perfect warm up before heading to the beach and jumping in.
Did Osprey to Pelican trail based off the 2 mile all trails app. The start was fine, then all a sudden we were getting attacked by bugs and mosquitoes! It was bad! And we couldn’t finish the hike and had to run back to the car since they were following us! Had about 20 bites! Got to see a turtle and ospreys! Remember bug spray, long sleeve shirt, and pants to prevent bugs!
Osprey Trailhead is a beautiful spot for a peaceful walk through nature. The trail is well-maintained and surrounded by gorgeous trees that provide plenty of shade and scenery. I saw both an owl and an eagle on my hike—such an amazing experience! Be sure to bring water, especially on warmer days, as the trail is long enough to get a good workout in. It’s the perfect place to reconnect with nature and spot some incredible wildlife. Highly recommend for bird lovers and hikers alike!
We rode the Osprey trail while visiting the Honeymoon Island State Park. This nature trail, located at the north end of the island is about a 2 mile loop trail on mostly packed sand trails. There are a lot of splash pines and palmettos along the path. As far as wildlife we saw numerous birds including osprey and a great horned Owl and even saw an armadillo on our ride. We were told and eagle would commonly nest on the very north end of the island. The park ranger was very friendly and informative. Osprey trail was a lot of fun and well worth the time if you are a nature lover.
