Mount Pisgah Arboretum

209 acres of Pacific Northwest ecology tucked between the Coast Fork of the Willamette River and the slopes of Mount Pisgah. Established in 1973, with 7 miles of riverside trails, 23 bridges, riparian meadows, evergreen forest, and a rare preserved oak savanna. Free to enter, $5 Lane County parking fee. Open dawn to dusk every day. Dogs welcome on leash. The arboretum features at least four outdoor interpretive exhibits and I made a point of visiting each one. The trail network is well maintained and some plants are labeled, which turns a walk into an education whether you intend it to or not. The crowds were thin, just a handful of people, which made the whole place feel like a private nature reserve. I arrived the day before the annual Wildflower and Music Festival was opening, and the setup was already underway. Worth knowing: when the festival runs, a shuttle is apparently necessary given the crowds. Plan accordingly. The flat arboretum paths and the rugged mountain trails together create a choose your own adventure park that works for a casual stroll or a serious leg burner. One of the better natural spaces in the Eugene area.

Tough hike up to the top, but absolutely worth it for the view and sunrise.

We have actually only ever attended Mushroom Festivals here, but the place is Magical 🎩 🪄 The grounds are lush and as natural as they can be. This location hosts several events throughout the year with the Mushroom Festival being one of the biggest and definitely the best 👌

I had the privilege of photographing a wedding at Mount Pisgah Arboretum in Eugene, Oregon, and for any couples dreaming of a unique wedding surrounded by nature, this is it! This venue is filled with towering trees, lush greenery, and scenic trails that create a stunning backdrop that feels intimate and timeless. The venue’s outdoor ceremony area is filled with natural light, making it perfect for capturing romantic, sunset portraits. For couples who love the outdoors and want their wedding to feel deeply connected to nature, Mount Pisgah Arboretum is a perfect choice. As a photographer, I can’t recommend this venue enough—it’s a truly magical place to celebrate love!

This Mt Pisgah Summit trail continues uphill from the beginning to the point of arrival and has a continuous steep course, so you should take plenty of time to enjoy the trail. The total distance is 2.95 miles round trip, and in my case it took about 1 hour and 10 minutes, but if you walk with the expected distance of 2 hours to 2 hours and 30 minutes, then you can enjoy the trail without much trouble. I wish there was a simple trash can in the middle of the trail where I could throw away the dog's poop bag. Please refer to the fee area where you have to pay $5.00 for parking.
