(from Google)Absolutely breathtaking! Just a little two hours away from Jersey! A Beautiful time to go is in early September!
Stunning panoramic views, well marked trails, excellent welcome center, this hike has it all!
One of the coolest hikes I have done! Can definitly recommend !!! Watch out for bears though. I did have a bear encounter , which I didn’t expect at all.
Difficult hike in several sections but you’re rewarded with amazing views! I was lucky enough to hear a rattlesnake and see it slither away a few feet behind me. Nice views of Turkey Vultures both soaring and perched on some outcroppings.
We finally made it to Gertrude’s Nose, and I have to say, it’s my favorite hike so far. You start at the visitor center (parking is $10), and from there, you’re in for an unforgettable experience. I recommend heading to Gertrude’s Nose first, then making your way up to Verkeerderkill Falls. It’s a long trail, but the views are absolutely stunning. On the way back, stop by the Ice Caves for one of the most magical parts of the trip. It’s a short loop, but it can be pretty challenging at times. We truly had an amazing time!
