Shiloh Trails - Trailhead

I enjoyed the trail more before everyone knew about it. Smells like pee.

Exciting mountain-bike trail for what Laredo can offer of a rugged ride through thick and thin brush up and down rabbit trails, winding through wooden bridges (no rails) over a meandering creek several yards deep down below! This is no kiddie ride bike trail. This bike trail is for pros and amateurs able to make biking an extreme sport. The pros can try to race through, but we amateurs are happy to get through it safely while enjoying the scenery and the over all excitement of the trail. There's a part so steep to go down, around, and then way up that we just had to walk and hike it through. The pros may eagerly look forward to this climax of the trail, but rider discretion is advised. I wouldn't recommend going alone, and never ever get caught in it at night. 2 portable restrooms at the start of the trail. No playground. You could take dogs for an exciting walk through this bike trail, but be careful about the bikers passing by at considerable speed through narrow paths. There's no formal designated picnic area, though you could find some spots within the brush to take a break. Just don't take too long and way before it gets dark.

Went for my first walk of the trail today with my Tommy Lee Jones, pekingese. The trail is super nice! Unfortunately, we got lost, and 1 biker man gave us directions to get out. I was fine, but Tommy Lee Jones needed water, and I had to carry him the last stretch. Other than that, it was really nice, but already hot...

I made the mistake of showing up on a Sunday, when no local bike shops were open. So my review is from a walker's perspective, but as a MTBer at heart. Mostly dirt track with a small amount of gravel and/or grass. Several trails, but few markings so best to keep your head on a swivel. I carried my phone with me so I was able to see where I was, even though my intentions were to just wander. But it can be very confusing and disorienting due to all the twists and turns, so pay attention to the directional markings you do see so that you're heading in the right direction. It was near 100+ degrees, but there is enough shade that it really didn't feel that bad. I think I walked nearly all of the trails, and never stopped regretting that I wasn't on a bike. Watch out for deer, I saw a few including one crossing the trail right in front of me. Overall a great park!

I ride here every time I come to Laredo for business. This is an awesome twisty trail with some challenging corners, climbs, and descents. Love the way you travel into woods and edge some exposed drops that could put you in the creek. Good am or evening trail with enough other bikers you will feel safe and not have to wait too long if something goes wrong with your bike. Twin City Cyclery is right adjacent to the trail parking lot if you need service or just want to shop this awesome knowledgeable bike shop. Awesome trail I highly recommend!
