My favorite hike in LA hands down. Not too long, about 1.5 miles up and 1.5 miles back. Beautiful view at the top that makes it well worth it. I was devastated when it closed after the fires and I'm overjoyed that its back open and so green and vibrant after the recent rains. Plenty of street parking by the trailhead and glclean public restrooms. What more could you ask for.

This is a great hike with little to no shade. Full sun for 4+ miles. Please do not bring your dog who is covered in fur out to hike with you if it is hotter than 70 degrees and please do not bring your dog without a portable bowl and water to drink. I saw so many dogs forced on this hike that were panting like crazy in the 78 degrees heat. It’s way too hot for them! It was insane! Please use your brain for your pets sake.

Great hike! Just the right amount of uphill. Lots of great views of the ocean, LA, PV, Catalina, etc

Open as of today July 25 2025. Sad to walk amongst charred once-was trees but there is new growth. Dark ash covers the path... it's a cemetery for the former plants & wildlife. I wouldn't take dogs on the trail since the ash will be toxic to their paws as they lick. On the bright side, the ocean views are now more vast and expansive, starting earlier on the trail than before.

My husband and I completed the hike up and down the mountain in 2 hours and 40 minutes, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Along the way, I noticed some people hiking with their dogs, even though the signs clearly stated that dogs were not allowed. However, the dogs seemed well-trained and didn’t cause any problems.
