Probably don't try to mtb here until the trail is maintained. Super overgrown. Would be cool to get a group together with some tools and fix it up.

The bike trail is terrible. I rode this a few months back on a hard tail and regretted it because of the roots but it was at least rideable. I recently got a full suspension and decided I would give it a go and see how good my bike is. The roots are gigantic, some are six to eight inches tall. Like I said the before the trail was completely rideable, but now there is trees across the trail (See photo). This trail is the worst within a 50 mile radius. Do not ride this trail if you are new to the sport, it will make you hate mountain biking. I recommend going the big branch or blue clay in Wilmington. Funny thing is MCCS charges people to borrow bikes and ride on this trail, but no one maintains it at all. This is not a soap box, but just a spillage of facts. This trail could be great, and has 1 coolish wooden feature. Ride at your own risk, and watch out for trees on the trail and extremely overgrown parts.

Given that there are very few trails in Jacksonville this is a relatively well groomed trail with some minor features that make for a decent trail. The roots can get excessive and some of the weeds can get overgrown at times and, if not groomed, can make for an unsettling ride. But again, since there is such a small selection of trails to choose from, this isn't a terribly bad trail.

This is a decent trail for this area, a lot of work has been put into it, bridges, clearing of debris etc. The trail itself is a pretty cool way of getting back into nature, there are a couple of streams along the way/ it also traverses the Henderson pond and you may see some wildlife like squirrels/ deer/ snakes. But all in all, a great escape from the office to get away from hustle and bustle My biggest gripe is all the tree roots on the trail. You get pretty beat up going over them but all the trails in this area have that issue.

I enjoyed it!! I haven't ridden in a while! Like 12 years, so I heard it was a pretty simple trail head nothing crazy. I still decided to take the kid loop, to begin with. The trail isn't exactly marked all that great somewhere I took a wrong turn and wound up on the full circuit. Not a problem, again I'm pretty good at riding it was just a lot more than I wanted to ride for just getting back into it.
